Christopher James Lobsinger, 51, Brisbane, Australia, formerly of Minot, passed away Nov. 22, 2014, of complications from cancer. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Jan. 17, at Corpus Christi Church, Bismarck, with a reception to follow at the community hall. Burial was held Nov. 28, in Brisbane.
Chris was born March 12, 1963, in Moorhead, Minn., the twin son of Jerome and Patricia Lobsinger.
Graduating from Bishop Ryan High School in 1982, Chris proudly enlisted in the North Dakota National Guard where he received Advanced Individual Training as a Combat Medic. Chris went on to complete Officers Candidacy School in 1987 where he was commissioned to the rank of second lieutenant. In 1986, he earned an undergraduate degree in Social Work from Minot State University. Chris moved to Australia the following year, earning a master's degree in social work from the University of Queensland in 1990. While at the University, Chris met and married Ngaire Schultz of Brisbane, Australia. Chris and Ngaire made their home in Brisbane where they raised three wonderful children; Daniel 17, Abbey 14 and Heidi 8.
After completing his master's degree in social work, Chris began his counseling career at the Royal Brisbane Hospital providing couples counseling, treatment for excessive gambling addiction and domestic violence. In 1996, Chris worked as a consultant supervisor at the Queensland Program of Assistance to Survivors of Torture and Trauma (QPASTT) where he worked for 15 years. In 2012, he entered into private practice.
Chris was a renowned counselor who practiced Psychotherapy. He was a dedicated professional who worked diligently to address the suffering of others. Chris cared deeply about the struggle of refugees and their rights as well as the effects of poverty and racism on the human family. His profession and clients will miss him greatly.
Chris is survived by his children, Daniel, Abbey and Heidi, all of Brisbane Australia; his father, Jerome Lobsinger, Bismarck; his twin brother, Roland Lobsinger, Portland, Ore.; his younger brother, John (Karla) Lobsinger, Bismarck; and several nieces and nephews.
Chris was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be given for his children.
