1946 - 2017
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Chris on January 17, 2017 at the Royal Victoria Hospital. Cherished brother of Dreena (Don Santerre). Beloved uncle of Michael (Melissa) and Lynne (Henry). His family would like to thank all of those who have offered condolences and kind words about Chris. Special thanks to Jacques McGraw for the support and help he gave to Chris. A celebration of Chris' life will take place in the spring.

Chris retired not long after i began working at Rosemount. I had the daunting task of taking his baton to become the history teacher that replaced him. 18 years later, I still model myself after Mr. Yule and how he impacted his students and mentored his colleagues. My deepest condolences to his family. He was an rhs legend.

I never personally had Mr. Yule as a teacher at Rosemount High, but I had friends that did. He was very well liked by students. Still fondly remembered and talked about after all these years. My sympathies to his family.

Mr. Yule had an impact in many lives at RHS as well as mine. When looking back 30 years, his name would be one that I would always remember and for good reason.

I offer my condolences to Mr Yule's family and friends. I had Mr Yule as a teacher in high school at Rosemount, and I still think about those classes regularly almost 30 years later. His impact on my world view and approach cannot be overstated. He was one of the best teachers I have ever had, including CEGEP and University comparisons. I remember him as an outstanding educator, combining humour, intelligence, compassion, and the ability to make people understand the essence of any topic. He was not only focused on curriculum, but also on making people think. There are not many like him in the world, so it is an especially sad day when the world loses such a person. Mr Yule will be missed.

I had the privilege of having Mr Yule as my history teacher at RHS. I would brag about it, knowing that not all my friends had that privilege. They even envied me. So when class was over, my friends would meet me at the door just to get "a piece" of this marvellous and friendly human being! It didn't take long for him to know them by name, despite the fact that he had never taught them.
I could go on and on about how great he was at making the subject interesting and comprehensible. His was the one class I never wanted to skip. He was one of a few teachers who inspired me to become one as well.
I truly appreciated and respected Mr Yule, and am sad to hear that he's gone. May he rest in peace, and may his family find solace in knowing that he will remain an inspiration for many, for years and years to come.

I had Chris Yule as a teacher and admired him immensely. He had a soft, gentle way about him. He went to school with my aunt Lynne who made me go introduce myself when she found out he was one of my teachers. She talked about what an incredibly funny, generous, and compassionate person chris was and i did just that...i certainly did admire chris yule as a teacher and he had an fantastic ability to inspire us as students.

My deepest sympathies to Dreena and family. Chris was a great colleague to work with and a fine teacher back at Montréal East School in the late sixties. He was good buddy and an integral part of the ACE Club that we ran for the students on Friday nights. It was a privilege to have known him and he will be missed by many but he has left us with wonderful memories. The years have passed so quickly since I last spoke with him but he has gone to a better life. Rest in peace old friend.

What can I say .? If I remember correctly I had Mr. Yule 3/5 years at RHS, Geography, History and World History. What's left behind in my memory are just good thoughts and very fond memories of Mr. Yule. It saddens me deeply hearing about his passing knowing that such a great, funny, and down to earth teacher has left us. Mr. Yule...this man was not only a super fun loving and caring human being but the one of the best teachers I have ever had (in my academic career). This teacher would go out of his way to push his students to believe in themselves and their abilities. This teacher is what I used to measure all other teachers after him..some came close but none would surpass him and the impact this man had on my life and the lives of hundreds of other people. Some of us are lucky to have great people to learn from on our life journey. RIP.

Mr yule was a prime example of what a teacher should be. He took the subject he was teaching and succeded in adapting it in a way that every single student in his class was captivated and interested in the material. That is no easy feat. The fact that all of us who went to rhs and dunton and montreal east remember him so many years later proves how much of an impact he had on our lives. Thank you. RIP. The saddest thing about great teachers is that they don't always know the great influence they have had on their students; not just in class but for the rest of their lives. I was lucky enough to tell Mr. Yule (Chris) about that 25 years after I left high school. I will be forever greatful for the way that he enriched my life, not only in school but by the lessons he taught us that I carried throughout my life. There are many students from several generations that join your family in mourning the loss of this wonderful man who taught us all the meaning of integrity.
