Christian Georg Alexander von Bauer February 4, 1929 - June 21, 2017 It is with profound sadness that we share the news of Chris' death. He died peacefully on June 21st. Chris suffered a severe stroke 11 years ago, spending the past 4 years in the tremendous and loving care of the Manoir Beaconsfield.

Chris emigrated from Germany to Canada in 1955. In 1956 his German fiancée, Ulla Euer, followed him to Montreal where they married. They started a family together and spent their lives in the Montreal area.

Chris enjoyed a successful career in the food trading business specializing in the export of meat products. He travelled the world from the Caribbean Islands to Europe, Japan and greater Asia. Later in his career he co-founded and ran his own business until he retired. He was determined to succeed and apart from family and work, he had little time for hobbies. He and Ulla started playing golf in his late 50's.

His children will fondly remember numerous summer vacations spent on Cape Cod, visiting relatives in Germany, and listening to Chris' stories. Chris enjoyed having his family around him and holding court at the dinner table. He was a true raconteur and had many legendary stories. Chris supported his children in whatever paths they wanted to follow, even when the paths were not completely clear.

Chris is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ulla, his three children; Henning (Laura Rogers), Janine (Michael Vidmar), and Claus (Kirsten Stoger). He is predeceased by his sister Jutta von Bauer in Germany who died in February. He will also be missed by his five grandchildren; Olivia, Benji, Sophia, Sacha, and Magnolia.

Our family is truly grateful for the loving support received from Nurse Carol Park at home for six years, and for the dedicated care he received at the Manoir Beaconsfield.

A memorial service will be held at Belvedere Funeral Home in Senneville on Friday, July 28th at 1 pm.
