Christie Wyrsch Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 7 to Jan. 8, 2024.
Christie Graeser Wyrsch, 80, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2024 at home with her beloved husband, David, at her side.

Born January 14, 1943 in Sacramento, CA to Dorothy and Oscar Graeser; Christie had a happy childhood growing up in Woodland with her sisters, Joan and Vivian, while also creating shenanigans with her sisters and cousins at their grandparent's ranch in Winters. She attended Beamer Elementary and graduated from Woodland High School, where she met and fell for David, her husband of 63 years. They had a long, storied life together, spending summers at their 'little slice of Heaven'- Lake Tahoe, frequently visiting two of their favorite places, Carmel and Hawaii as well as other adventurous trips around the US, Canada and Europe.

Christie was extremely creative and loved decorating, entertaining, gardening, and cooking. She was fun-spirited and generous with her talents. Flower arranging was a life-long hobby that she was happy to share; often providing bouquets and arrangements for the festive events of friends and relatives. She became passionate about beadwork later in life, creating beautiful and colorful jewelry that she took great joy in giving as gifts.

Service to others was important to Christie throughout her life. She was a member of Omega Nu Sorority and served on the Board of the Family Services Agency of Yolo County for many years. Socially, she belonged to several bridge groups and enjoyed hosting and getting together to play cards with friends. She and David loved having people visit and stay with them in Tahoe.

Christie is survived by her husband, David, and their two children: David Wyrsch III and Wendy Allison, along with her husband, Chris. She leaves behind the great lights of her life, her three grandchildren: Parker, Skylar and Carter Allison. She is also is survived by her devoted sisters: Joan Brownson and Vivian Graeser as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In typical Christie fashion, there are no services planned, certainly no pomp and circumstance. A celebration of life will occur with details to be determined.

Tom Means, in Oregon.
Christie definitely had fun around her house in grade school.
She always knew how to get my brother Bill and her sister Vivian into trouble with my parents and her parents.
After she got into high school, she started being more fun to be around for me, and she really enjoyed having fun with friends.
I will miss her smiling face and her laugh.
I am sure that David and her family will miss her and I am sure she has left all with many happy memories.

Dear David,
My mother, Jacquelyn Harlan, loved Christie of whom she spoke often. I shared her sentiment when I met Christie. She was a loving and brightly glowing lady. I have thought of her often.
You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
