Christina "Tina" Breen Moylan, a loving wife, mother, grandma, sister-in-law, and aunt left us August 11, 2025, after a short illness.
She was born in Sherman Oaks, California on February 17, 1948, to Richard Lyons Breen, an Academy Award Winner screenwriter, and Dorothy Rita Breen, a successful businesswoman. She graduated from St Francis de Sales high school in Sherman Oaks and then moved north to San Francisco where she enrolled in San Francisco College for Women (now University of San Francisco) according to her father's wishes…"any all women's college in San Francisco!." She graduated with a Bachelors in both French and Art History.
Her journey began in her freshman year when she met and 3 years later married Michael Arthur Moylan, also a graduate of University of San Francisco. They initially lived in Napa, California for six months until they drove across country to Washington, DC where Tina worked for the NRA and Mike completed his military duty as an officer in the US Army.
After the stint in DC, it was time to return to Belmont, Ca and get started on a family. Tina was able to be a fantastic, loving, entertaining stay at home mother. She took on the challenge of raising a boy, Kevin Breen Moylan, first and then prayed for a daughter and received that gift in the form of Kellyann Moylan. Raising the two young ones was not easy as they both had medical issues requiring various periods of hospitalization but Tina was an avid fighter and supporter with love for the two of them.
She used to talk about how many places we moved to both due to Mike's job as well as love of San Francisco and grandkids. After Belmont came San Jose, England, San Jose, El Dorado Hills, San Francisco, and back to two places in Sacramento. And these moves contributed to the travel bug for Mike, Tina, and family. They embarked on many cruises, a safari in Botswana, a walk on the Great Wall, and many trips through Europe, Africa, and Asia. They enjoyed spending many summer and winter days at their log cabin in Truckee with friends and family. "And be sure you say I went down the bobsled run at Olympic Park in Utah!"
No matter where we lived Tina always sought out engaging activities in support of her neighborhood and community. CCD teacher at St Anthony's, co-founder of long living Hunch Bunch, editor of Rumblings in support of Chrohn's Society, creator of Garbage & Giggles gathering on 43rd St, chair of SF Safe, President twice of Russian Hill Neighbors, and proudly a Trustee back at her Alma Mater USF. As she always said she was a people person as she enjoyed talking (of course, she was Irish) and engaging with people.
And amazingly when Tina was in her late 50s, she wanted to get her love of color and her creative mind engaged in producing and creating something beautiful. She took art lessons and produced the most beautiful paintings initially of English villages and then branching out to French villages, customized paintings with storefronts named after her family, and a special golf painting only for Mike.
Her creative juices did not stop with paintings but she created unique and beautiful necklaces as she toured the stores of Chinatown and many crystal shops. And to be able to share her creative pieces with others, she started the Palette Originals business in San Francisco. And of course with her necklaces came her terrific fashion sense. According to the fashionista Tina outfits need to match and she had plenty of matching outfits and shoes. Many of her clothes are still trending today with her grandchildren and nieces!
And she loved the large family she married into. As the charming host of many gatherings she ensured everyone was well fed and she made everyone feel special no matter young or old. Her quick wit, humor, and stories entertained us all and will be missed.
But her best job by far was being a Grandma to two amazing granddaughters, Katie Rose and Sarah, and one outstanding grandson, Julian. She had endless love for all three and tried to spend as much time as possible with all of them.
Tina leaves behind her husband of almost 56 years, Michael; her son Kevin and daughter-in-law Patty; her daughter Kellyann; three grandchildren; numerous in laws, nieces, and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. And she is the last of the Sherman Oaks Breen family as her parents, two brothers, and sister passed before her.
A celebration of her fantastic life is planned for September 14.
