Christine Schumacher Elder

ELDER, CHRISTINE SCHUMACHER - age 76, of Knoxville, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2009, at home with family by her side. She was an active member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church and involved in many Strang Senior Center activities. Christine also served families in the Surgery and ICU waiting rooms as a volunteer at the University of Tennessee Medical Center for almost four years. She enjoyed singing in the church choir and Shannonham Singers and playing the piano. Nana was devoted to her grandchildren and their activities as well. Christine was preceded in death by her husband of forty-nine years, William Elder; mother, Adrien Turner; father, Christian Schumacher; step-father, Allan (Pop) Turner; grandson, Scott Conley; sister, Clara Crane; brother-in-law, Norman Coe. Her survivors include daughter, Rev. Sandi Conley of Broxton, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Tom Moree, Kim and Troy Louis all of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Tommy (Stephanie) Moree, Nathan (Jilliane) Conley, Megan Conley, and Kendall, Emma and Clark Louis; sister, Edna Coe; brother-in-law, Ray Crane; sister-in-law, Barbara (Warren) Vestal and other extended family. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 27, 2009, from 2 to 3 p. m. with a service to follow at 3 p.m. at Ebenezer United Methodist Church with Rev. Ann Robins officiating.
