Christopher George Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 6, 2015.
Christopher "Chris" Lawson George, 34, of Roswell and Cumming, Georgia, a software engineer for Aon, died Friday, October 2, 2015 in Fulton County. Details about a commemorative hike are forthcoming. He is survived by his parents, Maureen of Roswell and Joseph of Cumming, his sister and brother-in-law, Caitlin and Patrick Johnson of Beaufort, SC, his brother, Nathaniel George of Sandy Springs, his sister, Molly Kollmar of Roswell, his brother and sister-in-law, John and Stacy George of Laurel, DE, his sister and brother-in-law, Brooke and Bob McCauley of Salisbury, MD, his brother, Sam George of Clearwater, FL, and his brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Wendy George of Missoula, MT. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the following charities: Childfund International, formerly Children's Christian Fund (CCF) www.childfund.org, American Society for the Protection of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) www.aspca.org, World Wildlife Fund (WWF) www.worldwildlife.org, and/or Feed the Children www.feedthechildren.org. Chris was born in Yardley, PA on February 19, 1981. Chris's mother felt so grateful for a healthy, happy baby that one night while holding him she felt compelled to "adopt" a child who was less fortunate through CCF. Chris's family moved to Georgia when he was a toddler, and he quickly took to caring for animals. When a neighbor's cat had kittens, his parents allowed him to bring home two. Those two eventually had kittens of their own, and Chris cared for them all. As a child, he was rarely seen without a live pet or stuffed animal in his hands, and he supported the efforts of animal rescuers such as the ASPCA. He graduated from Independence/Roswell High School and Devry University. Throughout grade school and as a young adult, Chris took to the outdoors. He and his siblings have gone tubing in Helen, explored Dahlonega, hiked Blood Mountain and to Ruby Falls, played in the rapids of the Chattahoochee River, and camped by Lake Lanier. They spent every weekend in the spring and fall at the local ball fields. As an adult, he enjoyed the solitude of hiking and camping in Amicalola Falls for days or weeks at a time. He expressed an interest in the stars and sky as well and supports the protection of all wildlife through the WWF. Chris also enjoyed working on his two cars, following the Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Falcons, Georgia Bulldogs and NASCAR, reading the bible, and volunteering in his community at Goodwill. His servant's heart supports giving to those less fortunate such as his fellow brothers and sisters helped by Feed the Children. He was a loyal family member and friend. Just recently, he drove to Philadelphia, PA for his grandmother's 96th birthday within a 48 hour span and to Beaufort, SC to meet his 1-month-old nephew in a 24 hour span. He was always there for his friends and struck everyone as kind and genuine. He was very successful in designing effective products at work and very respected by his coworkers. Chris had accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and used bible verses to help guide himself and loved ones through his earthly life.

My deepest condolences to all those that love Chris. He was a very special friend and will be deeply missed. He was there for me in my toughest times and I was saddened to hear how much of his own hurt he must have been enduring. My heart is with all his family, especially Caitlin, who he talked about with so much love.

Much sorrow at losing a wonderful cousin. He was a sweetheart and the world is a little less bright without him in it.

The Riley Family has fond memories of Chris as a child. He was a playmate for my children when we lived in Roswell. I will always remember him sitting on the curb with his siblings the day the moving truck pulled in. He was a sweet boy and his obituary indicated he carried that asset into adulthood. Our prayers go out to the family.
