Christopher T. Hale died Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2016. He is survived by loving parents, Earle and Meta of Richmond, VA; brother, Matt and his wife Rene; his sister, Sharon and her husband Randy and his sister Kathy who lives in California. Chris is also survived by his children, daughter Ashleigh and son Christopher. Christopher served four years in the Army protecting his country, then studied at the Culinary Institute of America in New York. He used his cooking skills as Chef while working on oil platforms off the California coast and as Chief Steward with the Merchant Marines when he sailed to the Gulf War zone several times in support of the troops. Chris later used his skills in support of the Knights of Columbus and Francis de Sales with their fundraisers; i.e. Texas BBQ, Oktoberfest and the St. Patrick's Day KOC dance, to mention a few. Chris was also a talented mechanic and was eager to pass his wisdom to his son and grandson. Chris and his wife, Claudia met while they sailed together on the military ships. They were together 17 years and married for 12 years. From the combined families, he also left behind daughters, Charity and Shara and son Jeromey and 10 grandchildren from his wife's side. The family would like to thank anyone that may have sent flowers and appreciate all gestures of condolences as a contribution to the Heart Assoc. in Christopher's memory. Contributions may also be made to the participants of the upcoming Jump Rope for Heart Program. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at 9am at Francis de Sales Catholic Church with a Mass at 10am. Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, VA is in charge of the arrangements.

So sorry to read about Chris. I only knew him for a short while when he was attending Embry Riddle. He was a great guy and a lot of fun. Always thought I would meet up with him again... My prayers are with his family.

I remember my brother Chris doing crazy dare devil stuff, such as jumping off the roof into the swimming pool in our backyard on a dare. He gave me my first taste of alcohol in the form of vodka and Welches grape juice, yes it was as horrible tasting as it sounds. He introduced me to the Rolling Stones. He was always so effortlessly cool and all the girls loved him. I guess one of my favorite memories of him is when I was about maybe 7 years old and my best friend Lisa and I were at the park near Cock Robin ice cream in Wheaton and a bunch of giggling 12 year old girls came up to us offering us 5 quarters for Chris whereabouts. He and purple Paul (Paul only would wear purple in case you were wondering) were apparently hiding from the girls because they wanted to kiss Chris. He and purple Paul had ran by earlier and said they'd be near the band stand. We of course sold out Chris fast to get some ice cream but I don't think he really minded in the end. He always liked girls, he never went through the kooty stage that boys have. I have so many great and funny memories of my big brother. I will miss Chris more than words can ever express.

Claudia there is nothing that I can say that will make this any easier for you at this time. We are all shocked by the sudden death of Chris but I can only imagine how this is for you. I remember our time together on July 4th. Chris seemed so happy cooking for us all and being Grandpa to the children. He tried to act stern with the kids but you could see the love and pride he had for all of his family. We will treasure this memory of our last meal together. Please know that Matt and I will keep you and all of the family in prayer.
