Christopher Romeo Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 14, 2023.
Old Lyme - Christopher Anthony Romeo, 60, of Old Lyme, passed away March 8, 2023. Chris was born June 21, 1962, in Old Lyme, to Armand and Barbara Romeo.

He graduated from Lyme-Old Lyme High School in 1980, where he was President of his high school class. Chris was a part of his high school's golf, basketball, and cross-country teams. Chris was a member of the golf team when they won the State Championship in 1979. Chris attended Wesleyan University in Middletown, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 1984. Chris then attended New England School of Law and earned his Juris Doctor in 1987. Chris was President of his law school class. He retired as an Attorney after 28 years. He then returned to his hometown to be with his father and spent the last seven years working at Lowe's of Waterford, where he was recognized as a top salesman of the Northeast for several years.

Chris was an avid fisherman and one of his favorite memories was catching the third largest, fresh-water Bass in Florida State History at Lake Okeechobee. He also loved to cook. Chris enjoyed traveling, especially with his Family, and traveled extensively around the world. He prided himself in being the "Trivia King", whether he deserved it or not. Chris was known for his sharp and edgy sense of humor and would "hold court" for hours. He never let political correctness get in the way of a good joke. Chris served his community of Westford, Mass. and was a member of the Board of Selectmen, Affordable Housing Community, Zoning Board, and Board of Tax Assessors. Chris also earned his Real Estate Brokers License in 1988.

Chris is now with his mother, Barbara Romeo, who predeceased him. Chris leaves behind his father, Armand Romeo, with whom he loved sparring about the Red Sox vs Yankees, as well as politics. He will also be missed by his siblings, Alex (Patrice) Romeo, Susan (Robert) Malestein, and Leslie (Jeff) Edmonds; his former wife Deborah Romeo; his nieces and nephews, Anthony, Samantha, Lauren, Sophia, Carly, Quinn, Maia and Rowan; and his Lowe's Family.

Chris had a love of language and the history of words and would've enjoyed red-lining this description of his life.

Chris was Uncle Army's and Aunt Barbara's first born of four children, and they lived next door to my Nana. My first cousin, I remember him being the funniest in the extended family, enjoying his humour and charm as we all gathered at Nana's for Thanksgiving and Christmas. He and I reconnected years later in the late 80's, when he lived in MA, worked in Winchester, and I worked in Burlington as a real estate appraiser. He did my taxes for a few years, and then helped me purchase my 2-family in Cambridge. He came to my house for a party, to celebrate the renovations to that 2-family, and we had such a good time! My wife, Norma, and I were to see him again in France, when we visited Versailles in 2009. His wife, Deborah, and he joined us for breakfast at our hotel there. The was to be the last time I saw Chris. We would chat on the phone and stay in touch over the next few years. I would call him when he lived with his dad in Old Lyme, to see how he was doing after leaving the law firm he had been with. I will miss him terribly, and my only solace is to know that he is in Heaven with his mom. Rest in peace, my dear cousin. Love, Jerry

Chris was the wittiest and most enjoyable conversationalist. He is my first cousin and what a joy to be with him....sharing stories and experiences. He had a pure essence and warm heart and now he rests with his mother Barbara Romeo. Onward Chris.......love, Judy
