Clara Sue Warner

Clara Sue Warner, age 85, passed away in her home on March 12, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. Sue's gentle spirit and compassionate heart touched the lives of all who knew her.

She was born on October 2, 1938 in Wisconsin Rapids, WI, the eldest child of Darrell and Susan Dewitt. Sue graduated from Assumption High School in 1956, and worked various jobs, including writing and drawing ads for the Buyer's Guide when it opened. She married Boyd Warner on September 14, 1973.

They moved to Springfield, IL in 1975, where she was employed in human resources for the IRS for more than 25 years. In 2009, she started with Federal Benefits Educators, and continued there until just weeks before her passing. She was an active parishioner at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, a member of Cathedral Council of Catholic Women, Diocesan Council of Catholic Women. In 2012, she was honored by being named the Woman of Distinction by the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women. She was a service officer for many years for the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. (NARFE) She spent her life volunteering her time and money to many different causes.

Sue is survived by her daughter Nicole (Troy) Parker of Springfield, IL, her stepson Curt (Deb) Warner of Rockford, IL, four stepdaughters and their families, grandchildren Kaylee, Kelsey, Kyle, all of Springfield, IL and Paige of Rockford, IL, and great-granddaughter Miria. She is also survived by siblings Cathy Dewitt, Margaret Bluemke, Jim (Kathy) Dewitt, John (Sue) Dewitt, Phil (Dee) Dewitt, Tom Dewitt, all of Wis. Rapids, WI; Sister Mary Susan (Betty) Dewitt, Jude Collins, and Jeanne Smith, all of Duluth, MN; sisters-in-law Mary Dewitt of Sanford, NC, and Sandie Warner of Plover, WI, as well as countless nieces, nephews, and many friends.

She is reunited in heaven with her parents, her husband Boyd, siblings David Dewitt, Larry Dewitt, Ruth Olson, infant brother Patrick Dewitt and sister-in-law Beverly Sue Dewitt. Sue was an angel on earth and will be dearly missed. She was a living example of "treat others the way you wish to be treated." Her unwavering kindness, generosity, and love for her family and friends will be remembered forever. Sweet dreams, sleep tight. We love you, goodnight.

A funeral mass will be held at 10am on Friday, March 22, at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 524 E. Lawrence Ave, Springfield, IL. Directly following the mass there will be a celebration of her life at Cathedral.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception or The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Central Cremation Center in Forsyth, IL has been entrusted with arrangements.
