CLETIS BROWN

CLETIS A. BROWN Mrs. Cletis A. Brown of Opelika passed away at her home Tuesday, October 18, 2011. She was born March 26, 1940 in Ivanhoe, Virginia, and was a graduate of Pulaski High School, Pulaski, Virginia. She also held a degree in Medical technology from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. She had been a resident of Opelika since 1979. Mrs. Brown was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church where she had served as past Senior Warden. Cletis had been very active in the Opelika Arts Association and served as past President. She was instrumental in raising funds for the Opelika Depot Restoration Project. With the assistance of Hospice Advantage, Cletis fought a long term battle with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma for over eleven years. Mrs. Brown is survived by her husband, Robert Glenn Brown, M.D. of Opelika; son, Glenn Christopher Brown (Connie) of Sierra Madre, California; daughter, Rebecca Brown Thibodeau, M.D. of Suffolk, Virginia; granddaughter, Meris Brown of Sierra Madre, California; and grandsons, Gavin Brown of Sierra Madre, California, Alex Thibodeau, and Mason Thibodeau of Suffolk, Virginia. Memorial service for Mrs. Brown will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Emmanuel Episcopal Church with Father John Klein officiating. Visitation is Friday from 6-8 p.m.at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home.
