I met Cliff in 1985 at Booker T. Washington College (Birmingham Al.). We were in the radio broadcasting communication studies program. We became friends. After graduation we became co-workers at WAYE RADIO for years. We had some lifetime experiences. This news comes as a shock to me,my heart is heavy! Condolences to the entire Mayfield family. R. I. My sincerest Condolences to the Mayfield family. I got the priviledge to work with Clifford for the past 3 years. He always had a smile on his face when he would walk in the door. He was a good friend and he would always say great things about his pastor, family, and church family. Clifford loved the Lord and he loved his Church. Clifford always prayed for us! I met Cliff in 1985. We were kids trying to find our place in the world. We studied Mass Communications with emphasis on Radio Broadcasting and graduated together in 1987. Received our Broadcaster Operators License from the FCC in 1988. That same year God favored us and we both happily landed paid opportunities as on air personalities for WENN/WAGG and WAYE. He loved radio and the power of the mic. Its been years now, and I still remember his laugh. I'll always cherish those memories of youth, adventure and accomplishment. I extend my prayers and sincerest condolences to his children, family, friends and radio listeners.
