Clyde Bailey Obituary
Clyde Jennings Bailey, was born February 28th, 1926, and passed away Thursday, May 26, 2016 at the age of 90. He was predeceased by his wife; Mildred L. Bailey (Cook), parents John W. Bailey and Grace E. Bailey (Wilson), his 3 older brothers, and two older sisters. His survivors include his two younger sisters June Crouch (Bailey) and Ruth Sheppard (Bailey), son Clifford Bailey and his wife Cynthia of Phoenix, AZ, daughter Deborah S. Hallahan and her husband Timothy of Peoria, AZ, and daughter Shelley R. Guthrie and husband Rick of Peoria, AZ, 7 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. He was born in Chase City, Va., graduated from Midway High School in 1943, and then at some point enlisted in the Army Air Corps. In 1948, he married Mildred Cook, whom he had fell in love with during AAC flight training at Luke AFB, went to college after the war, and graduated from Arizona State Teachers College (ASU) in 1951. He ended up farming the Cook family farm in Peoria, AZ for 33 years. He enjoyed a long retirement with his wife Mildred, for an additional 31 years until her death in July 2012. He will be deeply missed by all of his family and friends. A graveside service will be held at 8:30 AM, Monday, June 6, 2016 at Greenwood Memory Lawn Serenity Mausoleum. My parents George & Betty Godfrey were friends with Clyde and Mildred through the CB club and also Don & Joanne Cook many years ago. I have fond memories of driving so far out into the country (back in the 1960's it was a long drive) to have corn on the cob that we kids got to pick ourselves.
