Connie Gallatin Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 21, 2023.
June 20, 1949 - January 2, 2023 HENDERSON, NV Connie Stegall Hale Gallatin, 73, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Jan. 2, 2023, after a short battle with cancer. Her family and friends take comfort in knowing that she is in Heaven reunited with her parents and brother. She was born in Galesburg, Illinois, on June 20, 1949 to Rex and Vernis Stegall, who both preceded her in death. Growing up in Galesburg, as the oldest she enjoyed exploring the outdoors with her sister, Sonnie (Henderson, NV) and helping her younger brother Brian (deceased). In 1968, she moved to Orange County, CA to attend Fullerton College where she met her future husband, Jerry Hale. She earned her BA from CSUF, she was an avid reader, talented writer and enjoyed walking on the beach. In June, 1971, she was married, a year later they welcomed their first son, Jason. A few years later, she moved to Corona, CA and welcomed her younger son, Jared. Connie was amazingly grateful to stay home when her boys were younger, she was very hands-on with helping them learn to read and supporting their athletic aspirations. She drove her family to visit her parents and relatives in Galesburg every summer. Connie took great pride in sharing that Galesburg is the only remaining original site of the historical U.S. Senate Debate of Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas. She regularly volunteered in her boys' classrooms, and she was inspired to make a difference in the lives of children. In 1986, she started teaching at Garretson Elementary in Corona-Norco USD. Connie believed that each child had many talents, it was her job to help them strengthen their gifts. She leveraged students' interests to motivate them to engage in deeper learning. Her superintendent recognized her commitment to teaching and encouraged her to become an administrator. She earned an MA in Educational Leadership from APU and her Administrator Credential from University of Redlands. Connie was recognized as Teacher of the Year and a distinguished principal in the Corona-Norco USD serving over 18 years in education. She loved her Garretson Gator and Riverview family - students, colleagues, staff, and community. In 2002, she married Ken Gallatin, a few years later she retired and moved to Henderson, NV. She traveled, enjoyed attending outdoor concerts, and spent more time with her family. She didn't remain retired long, she returned to teaching in Nevada. Connie will be remembered by her kindness and inviting smile. She had a way of making you feel like the most important person in the room when talking to her. She is survived by her husband, Ken; her oldest son, Jason, his wife, Amanda, and their daughter Sawyer Grace of Carlsbad, CA; her youngest son, Jared, his wife, Cherie, and their children, Xavier (son, Zion), Ivy, Macy, and Shiann of Las Vegas, NV; her stepdaughters, Tatia McFarlane, her husband, Brian, and their children, Lola, and Brody of Escondido, CA. Wendi Gensel, her husband, Chris, and their daughter Kennedy of Chino Hills, CA. She deeply loved her nieces, nephews and cherished spending time with them and their children. Connie felt blessed to share memorable times with her friends. A celebration of life is planned for Sat., Feb. 4 at 11:00 AM, Crossroads Church Corona, CA. Live stream of the service will be available on Facebook (Cherie Hale). For those who wish, donations can be made to the Connie Hale, Scholarship Fund to support students in Corona-Norco USD explore their passion by attending college. Connie - a loving mother, grandmother, and friend!

By the grace of God, you entered my daughter´s life in 1995 and you helped my daughter discover her passion in life. Not a day goes by where your son, Jason, doesn´t mention the love and confidence you gave him to be the good man he is today. Amanda works very hard because you taught her that students deserve better. She kept learning and earning degrees because of your love and encouragement. When we are playing cards with Sawyer, all I have to do is give her your look and she knows - she has to earn a win.

I cannot express with words the impact you had on our lives. Your actions always spoke louder than words. My daughter is who she is because of YOU.

When we get to Heaven we will see you.

Con mucho carino,
Richard Segovia

To the most amazing teacher in the world. Who not only prepared me for high school, but taught me how to be an independent, compassionate, and responsible human. My years with you shaped who I am today, and I will forever hold our many adventures in my heart. I love you Ms. Connie, and miss you so much.

Mrs. Connie was such an incredible valuable person in our lives. She homeschooled my daughter Jessica Noel Ruettiger from Elementary School through the 8th grade, and my son Danny Joseph Ruettiger for part of Elementary School. Mrs. Connie always arrived to school in the morning on time with a smile. She greeted the kids with a hug and a bright happy attitude. Mrs. Connie was always so much fun and interested in what was happening in the kid´s lives. Jess and Danny looked forward to school every day. Mrs. Connie definitely made learning fun! She taught Jessica a full curriculum including, testing and final exams. Mrs. Connie shared her love for literature and made sure to introduce Jessica to all of the classics. She would read books to Jess every week in reading class. In additional to a complete educational program, Mrs. Connie also made sure to take Jess on class trips a few times a year to museums, exhibits, famous places, tours, explorations, and even out to exciting new restaurants to enhance the educational opportunity. She was also involved in Jessica and Danny´s lives outside of school. She and Ken would attend all of Jessica and Danny´s performances and events. We always felt like she was a part of the family. Jessica and Danny both graduated from Faith Lutheran High School. While in High School Mrs. Connie and Ken continued to attend performances, special events and Musicals at Faith Lutheran High School for Jessica. Jessica graduated college from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee with a BFA in Musical Theatre and an emphasis in Dance, Cum Laude. Danny is currently a Sophomore at Arizona State University. You would be so proud of both of them, Mrs. Connie. We all love and miss you so much. Thank you so much for the incredible impact you made in our lives. We are all so very grateful. Rest In Peace with love and light. Much Love, Cheryl, Jessica, Danny Ruettiger and family.

I knew Connie as my granddaughter Jessica´s home school teacher and always felt how lucky Jess was to have such a warm, kind and dedicated teacher and I always enjoyed any contact that I had with her during the time she taught Jessica....how fortunate we were! May she rest in peace!

Connie will be deeply missed. She was an amazing person who was always there to help others. She was more than a sister-in-law, she was my friend and such an important person in our kid's lives, their "Tia." Rest in peace Connie Sue.
