Conrad Pruden Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Aug. 17 to Aug. 18, 2008.
PRUDEN, Conrad Ralph 'Rotten' Suddenly following a brief illness it is regrettable that we announce the passing of Ralph (lovingly known as "ROTTEN") Pruden on August 13th, 2008. His family was fortunate enough to be at his side during this time. Ralph was 73 years young and died during a short and unexpected stay at the Health Sciences Center in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his bride, Marlene (nee Middleton) of over 50 years, and his sons Howie and Tina (Wroxeter, ON), Kevin and Debbie (Medicine Hat, AB), and his daughter Holly and Tammy (Kelowna, BC) as well as, his grandchildren Melissa, Jennifer, Crystal, Kendra, Alysha, Alexander, Sammy and Sydney. Ralph is survived by his brothers, Jack, Ken, and George, and sisters, Connie Wright and June Selinger. Ralph was predeceased by his brothers, Lloyd and Vern and sister, Myrtle Woolard. Ralph is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Ralph was born in Winnipeg on January 21, 1935 to Conrad and Mabel (nee Hawes) Pruden. Unfortunately at a very young age, his mother passed away and Ralph and his younger brother George went to live with relatives in Arborg, Manitoba. Ralph enjoyed playing all sports and excelled in baseball, curling and hockey. Ralph met Marlene in 1955 and they were married on August 31st, 1957. Ralph had a number of jobs that took him from Manitoba to Ontario to Alberta. Over the years he and Marlene made and maintained many loving and lasting friendships. His career included working in the Bank of Commerce, Campbell Soup (18 years), the Alberta government and many entrepreneurial ventures, in addition to being a Registered Industrial Accountant. "Rotten" and "Marsha" finally settled into life in Edmonton in 1981 where in typical form they immersed themselves with friends, curling, golf and travel. Ralph 'finally' retired a couple of years ago (yet again) and recently bought his dream land near Arborg on Lake Winnipeg. This was his first summer back with the fish flies and mosquitoes of Manitoba and he loved it! The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and support staff of the Intensive Care Unit and Step Down Unit of the Health Sciences Center in Winnipeg, Manitoba. A Celebration of Ralph's Life will be held at the Hainstock Funeral Home on 9810 - 34th Avenue in Edmonton on August 19th, 2008 at 2:00 p.m., followed by a drop-in gathering from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, 11560 University Avenue, Edmonton T6G 1Z2 or to your favourite charity in the name of Ralph Pruden. Letters of condolences can be sent via email to [email protected] Hainstock's Funeral Home & Crematorium, 440-2999. Honoured Provider of Dignity Memorial
