Constance Hovagimian Obituary
MILLBURY/SHREWSBURY - Constance Marie (Purretta) Hovagimian, 83, died Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at the UMass Memorial Medical Center surrounded by her family.
She leaves her husband of 50 years, John Hovagimian; two daughters, Donna Marie Hovagimian Erickson of Millbury and Diana Lee Stratton and her husband Micah Paul Stratton of Orange; five grandchildren, David Brian Erickson, Felecia Marie Malpass, William Wallace Erickson, Sabrina Lynn Marie Erickson, and John Paul Stratton; two great-grandchildren, Layla Mae Malpass and Hunter Lee Malpass; two sisters, Jean Pelis of Essex Junction, Vt., and Margaret Carlson of Shrewsbury; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was predeceased by her brother Joseph Purretta and her sister Frances Purretta.
Constance was born in Worcester, daughter of Gaetano Thomas and Congetta (Aquino) Purretta. She lived several years in Shrewsbury before moving recently to Millbury.
She was a graduate of Worcester Commerce High School.
Constance was an administrative assistant for many years to Dr. Jane Fitzpatrick in her pediatric medical practice in Worcester.
She won many awards as an Arthur Murray dancer and later went on to become a teacher for the Arthur Murray Dance Studio. She was an amazing and loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother right up until the end. She stayed true to her God Jehovah.
Calling hours are Sunday, October 28, 2018 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. The funeral service will be held Monday, October 29 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.

Dear John, Donna, Felecia, Sabrina and little Layla and Hunter (and to the rest of Connie's family), when Connie and I became roommates last Jan and Feb in rehab, we became instant friends. When family and friends couldn't visit because of a deep freeze and blizzard, we became FAMILY. I felt so blessed to have been included and looked forward to their visits. Connie would light up when John would stroll in in his wheelchair and they were excited about their upcoming 50th anniversary! When her family visited you could feel the love between all of them. She and Layla would color together and have the most interesting conversations! She loved her Mimi so much! Layla danced and sang for me during one of their visits and was so proud to be able to entertain us....
I just got home from a 2 week stay in the hospital and while there, last Sunday, Connie
and I were reunited in an x-ray waiting room! What are the odds that this would happen...I was able to spend a few moments with her holding her hand. I believe that this was God's way for us to say goodbye. Connie, you will be missed by so many and my heart breaks with your family for their great loss. I will forever hold you in my heart and thank God for bringing us together. Donna and family, I thank you with all my heart for allowing me to be part of your wonderful family~
