Constantine Kostiw Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 8, 2009.
REV. DR. CONSTANTINE KOSTIW It is with deep sadness and sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Tato and Dido, in his 93rd year, on Sunday, July 5th, 2009. Gone to be with His Beloved Lord. Predeceased by his wonderful and loving wife Olena and grandson, baby Luc. Lovingly remembered by his four children: Oksana and husband Ron, Olesia and husband Pascal, Taras and wife Chris, Natalka and husband Peter. Dido leaves behind nine cherished grandchildren: Justin, Olenka, Tanya, Mark, Mathieu, Andre, Daniel, Nathaniel and Michael and extended family in the USA and Ukraine. His unwavering and unconditional Christian faith was always the cornerstone and guiding light in his long and productive life as a Ukrainian Baptist Minister. Author of numerous acclaimed Ukrainian literary works, books on religion and many publications, he was a true intellectual and possessed a beautiful and brilliant mind. He was a proud member of the Shevchenko Scientific Society, an organization of learned men and women dedicated to scholarship. A very special note of thanks to the doctors and nursing staff of 6G of the St. Joseph's Hospital, Toronto and especially to Mary-Jane Pearen for her extraordinary caring and compassionate spirit. Family and friends are invited to celebrate our Father's exceptional life with visitation on Thursday, July 9th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W. (at Windermere, east of the Jane Subway), with Funeral Service to follow in the Chapel on Friday, July 10th at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at the Park Lawn Cemetery in Toronto. In lieu of flowers, friends are invited to donate to the Evangelical Mission to Ukraine.

Dear Al,Oksana, Taras and Kalia,
We are so sorry for your loss. Your father was an wonderful, intellectual human being and we are sure he will be sorely missed. Some comfort should come from the cornerstone of his unconditional faith and that now he is with your beloved mother and baby Luc. Also, as you remember your father we hope solace will gradually replace grief.
Thinking and praying for you,
Lesia, Stephan and Anton Schneider
P.S. Al I love you

I give thanks to God for the life of your father and grandfather and for the joy he brought to all of you. His wisdom and teachings will live on in the lives of many people. Do not be grieved for the joy of the Lord is your strength. Nehimiah 8:10
