Cooper Eastman a lifelong Newton resident died on Wednesday May 31st at Epoch Senior Healthcare of Weston. He was 81 years old. Born in Newton, Mr. Eastman was a graduate of Newton High School Class of 1942, Harvard University Class of 1949 and received his MBA from Northeastern University. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran. Mr. Eastman worked for most of his professional career as an Investment Salesman for Tucker Anthony and R.L. Day. He retired in 1995. He was a lifelong member o the Unite Methodist Church in Newton, where he was very active and served on the Church Board. He was also a lifelong member of the West Suburban YMCA and was on the board of directors. The beloved husband for over 56 years of Bertha L. (Henley) Eastman, he was the dear father of Cooper Eastman Jr. and his wife Celeste of Franklin and Dale E. Acker and her husband Peter of Lincolnton NC. Brother of Robert D. Eastman of Hollis NH and the late Frederic B. Eastman Jr. Cherished grandfather of Spec. Keith C. Eastman, U.S. Army Germany and his wife Stephanie, Brenton R. Eastman of Fitchburg, Andrew F. Acker and Geoffrey S. Acker both of Knoxville TN. Great grandfather of Makayla Eastman. A Funeral Service will be held at the United Methodist Church of Newton, 430 Walnut St, Newtonville on Saturday June 3rd at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the Eaton and Mackay Funeral Home, 465 Centre St. Newton Corner on Friday from 4-7 PM. Interment with Military Honors at Newton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Cooper's name maybe made to The United Methodist Church of Newton, 430 Walnut St, Newtonville MA 02460 or the West Suburban YMCA, 276 Church St, Newton MA 02458.
