Craig Kinsey Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 28, 2008.
Craig Hunter Kinsey was born on March 17, 1969 in El Paso, Texas. He passed away unexpectedly at his home in Austin, Texas on September 28, 2008 due to heart disease. Hunter grew up in Albuquerque where he was active in scouting and soccer. He graduated from Eldorado High School and attended the University of New Mexico. Hunter lived in Seattle, WA for 10 years. While there, he graduated from the Art Institute of Seattle and pursued his goal of commercial photography. At the time of his death, he was manager of the Photography department at Golfsmith. Hunter's artistic spirit expressed itself in his freelance photography, his multimedia creations, his music, his Flame Fontaine pomade business, and other creations. He played bass with the band Shinola, in Austin. Hunter was the photographer and served on the board for Texas Roller Derby. He enjoyed collecting Elvis memorabilia, exploring paranormal phenomena, and studying ancient civilizations. Hunter loved children, especially his niece Kylie. Hunter also enjoyed the time he spent with his extended family in Austin. Hunter loved animals. He was known to feed neighborhood squirrels and greatly loved his dog Tasha and cat Izzy. On May 5, 2007, Hunter married the love of his life, Jennifer Laosa Kinsey, and they looked forward to many happy years together as a family. They celebrated their marriage with a dream honeymoon to Paris where they hoped to return someday. Hunter is survived by his wife Jennifer, his parents Charles and Carolyn Kinsey of Albuquerque, New Mexico and his sister Kim Kinsey of Aztec, New Mexico. He is also survived by many family and friends who will miss his compassionate heart and creative love of life. The family would like to thank everyone for their outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. A very special thanks goes to Adrienne Laosa for her amazing courage and strength. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, October 4th at the UMLAUF Sculpture Gardens, 605 Robert E. Lee Road near Zilker Park in Austin. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be sent to the animal rescue organization of your choice.

Kim, Jen, and family,
Hunter's eternal life was sealed in his Baptism, and that is the basis for our hope to meet him again. May the Lord heal your broken hearts and give you peace, now and forever.

I only knew Hunter for a very short period of time as I started working at Golfsmith this May. But in the short time I've been here I was lucky enough to spend some quality time with him during a Photo Safari. Our Safari team took a number of fun photos together, perhaps one of the more memorable being, tattooing his marionette puppet Pepé. Needless to say we had a great time. He was a fun person to be around and a fierce friend; he is sorely missed. My warmest and deepest condolences go out to all of Hunter's family and friends.

Sincerely,
