Cynthia Karcher Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 6, 2024.
Tucson - Cynthia Northrop Karcher, a cherished mother and grandmother died peacefully in Tucson, Arizona, as she prepared to celebrate a joyous family milestone-her grandson's wedding. At 88 years of age she was very active throughout her remarkable life with her family, many friends and the organizations to which she offered dedicated service. Cynthia was a 60-year member of P.E.O. and actively participated in bridge, book, and genealogy clubs. She served as the Treasurer for Union Congregational Church in Green Bay for many years and was very active in Service League, Symphony Guild, Monday Shakespeare, and Art Club. Her passion for the arts and community service touched many hearts.

Born December 19, 1935, in Watertown, WI to the late Marie (Schmutzler) and Sydney Northrop. Cynthia graduated from Watertown High School and the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she became a lifelong member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority and was named sweetheart of Sigma Chi. She married the love of her life, Paul Karcher (son of Paul and Francis Karcher) on June 29, 1957 and began an adventure of 61 years until Paul's passing.

During Paul's early military service Cynthia and Paul were stationed in Fort Huachuca, AZ. Upon retirement, they returned to the area in 1999 to build their home in the mountains of the Southwest. They enjoyed hiking, golfing, travel, playing bridge, and enjoying the company of wonderful friends.

Cynthia is survived by sons, David (Inocencia), John (Teri) and Tom and grandchildren Sara (William Boyle), Owen (Chelsea), Max (Lynoshka), Ian, Hayden and Ethan, great grandchildren Will & Brynn Boyle. Cynthia was preceded in death by her sister Patricia and her parents Sydney and Marie Northrop.

Cynthia's legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, as they remember her kindness, wisdom and love.
