Cynthia Polo Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 11, 2014.
CARMEL - Cindy Polo passed away peacefully Feb. 6, 2014, at her home in Carmel. She was born Aug. 8, 1953, and grew up in Hampden on the Old County Road. She was predeceased by her parents, Ross and Joan Strang of Hampden who brought up their two girls with love, heart and soul.

Cindy graduated from Hampden Academy in 1971 and soon after married the love of her life, Robert. They spent their years together raising a beautiful family, spending their summers on Moosehead Lake and Beech Hill Pond, motorcycling, and cherishing every available moment with their grandchildren. Cindy worked in photography for many years leading to her initial career as an established interior plantscaper. Later in life she was proud to become a certified Dental Assistant. Cyn, Mom, Mil, Nanee will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and the immense love she had for her family, especially her grandchildren. As a dedicated grandmother she enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports and teaching them to cook. Cindy was an exceptional baker, talented crafter/knitter, and skilled quilter just like her mom. Other hobbies included gardening, landscaping, and caring for her ever growing family of cats and rabbits. During the summers at Beech Hill Pond she enjoyed boating, swimming at the "Chunk of Pork," traditional Fourth of July parades and celebrations, and sleepovers with her grandchildren.

Cindy is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Robert; sister, Kelly Strang-Richard and husband, Ivan; son, Keith and wife, Amy, and their children, Jacob and Sam; son, Matt and wife, Tina, and their children, Max and Anna; two special nephews, Travis and Joe Bryant; along with extended family at Beech Hill Pond and many other family members and close friends.

Cindy and her family want to recognize and thank the staff who cared for her at Eastern Maine Medical Center, especially the sixth floor and CancerCare of Maine for all the love and respect she experienced during her visits.

The family has gathered for a private celebration of life at her home in Carmel. Donations in Cindy's memory may be made to CancerCare of Maine, Champion the Cure, care of EMHS Foundation, P.O. Box 931, Bangor, ME 04402. Cindy's gentle soul deeply touched everyone who knew her. Her legacy of love and dedication will live on through her husband, extended family, and the souls of her four grandchildren.

To the Polo Family – I got to know Cindy over the years she had come to the Bank to take care of our plants. She always greeted me with a smile, her soft voice and the twinkle in her eyes – she was always so pleasant. We'd talk about you - her beloved family – her husband, sons, daughters-in-law and grandchildren. How proud she was of all of you. Think always of the happy, fun memories you all shared with her – how she made you laugh, how she loved you, how she made each day wonderful just by being a part of it. My deepest sympathies to you all. Sincerely, Nancy (Raymond)

Kelly, I know we haven't talked in ages, but when my mom called and told my about Cindy I was shocked. The Strang family was a part of my childhood and I will always remember all the wonderful times we all had together on Old County Road. I saw Cindy only a handful of times after high school, but I remember her being so sweet and kind. I'm sure your family is suffering a huge loss. May God give you all the strength you need as you go through this difficult time. Take care my friend. Sandy (Grant) Helms.
