Cynthia Rivest Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Dec. 2 to Dec. 4, 2010.
RIVEST, Cynthia ""Cindy"" Louise February 28, 1986 - November 30, 2010 Cynthia (Cindy) Louise Rivest, chosen and always cherished daughter of Bob and Jane, passed away suddenly at Rockyview General Hospital on the evening of November 30, 2010 as a result of a pulmonary embolism at the age of 24 years. Cindy was an incredibly creative, caring, and strong willed person who played life to the beat of her own drum. She was proud of her fourteen years volunteering as a face painter with Betty's Run for ALS - the only morning of the year when we could easily get her out of bed. Cindy loved little things in nature; a bug on a leaf, a spider in a web and could find them in places no one else would and saw nothing but beauty in all forms of life. Cindy met the love of her life, Robert Falk (Colorado) online. This summer, they spent five months and countless hours together talking, laughing and treasuring each other's company. She has left behind her most treasured brother Christopher, his wife Sarah, and her dear niece Ruby Padbury. She also leaves her grandmother Lucille Rivest as well as special aunts, uncles and cousins across the country and her beloved cat Meko. A Celebration of Cindy's Life will be held at Hillhurst United Church, 1227 Kensington Close N.W. on Sunday, December 5, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com . Our sincere thanks to the emergency department team at Rockyview for working so hard to bring Cindy back to us, but it was not to be. Her last words to Jane in the waiting room at the emergency department were ""I hope the ALS angels look after me tonight"" and we know they will. Please no flowers. If people wish to remember Cindy in a special way, donations to the ALS Society of Alberta, Support for Champions Children's Program, 400, 320 - 23 Avenue S.W., Calgary, AB T2S 0J2 or www.alsab.ca would be most appreciated. In living memory of Cindy Rivest, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Park Memorial Chapel, 5008 ELBOW DRIVE S.W. Telephone: 403-243-8200.

dear family of cynthia,
im so sorry for your loss i went to third academy with your daughter and she was a beautiful person i still to this day think about the fun i had at her birthday party in the bowling ally. i always thought she was the luckiest girl in the world for having the coolist bedroom ever and parents that gave her that. She was very good at art and i still have a cd that she burnt for me in high school. the cd only had 1 song on it but its special to me because cindy took the time to think of me and do somthing special for me at that point in my life not too many people would do that and i never forgot the kindness and warmth she gave to me. I lost touch after high school but was really sad to hear of her passing she will be missed by many and im now i am a mother and i cant imagine what you as a family must be dealing with may god bless you and help you throgh this hard time in your lives

Mr. and Mrs. Rivest, sorry for your lost. As we remember the fun the girls had as students and as they grew older. It is always a difficult time to loose a child to death. Keep strong and remember the good times.

I never got the chance to meet Cindy in real life, but I met her through World of Warcraft. She became a real good friend of mine on there, and then later on outside of the game. We talked about my coming to meet her at some point in time, and I'm sad that I won't get that chance now. She was so sweet and kind and caring. I know I will certainly miss her.

My thoughts and prayers are with your family. At least Heaven has one more angel now, and she will watch over you all, I'm certain.
