Cyril Eckl Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jun. 18 to Jun. 19, 2010.
CYRIL WILLIAM ECKL It is with much sadness and relief that Cyril, age 66, of Saskatoon, gracefully went to be with his Lord after a tireless twenty-five year war against cancer. Cyril passed peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 16th, 2010 in the loving presence of family and while holding the hand of his best friend and true love, Angeline. Cyril has left to mourn his memory: his devoted wife of 43 years, Angeline; his children, Shawn (Carina) Eckl of Edmonton, Alberta and Nadine (Glenn) Mihalicz of Fort Worth, Texas; two adoring granddaughters, Avienda and Inara; his brothers, Brian (Diane) and Neil (Laurie) and his sister, Marlene (Dave) Leopard; sister-inlaw, Sylvia (Ken) Klashinsky, in addition to many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Cyril was born in Bruno, SK on May 21st, 1944. After graduating from Bruno Collegiate, he studied business and economics and then began his career with Canadian National Railway in 1962. In 1976, Cyril started working in Transportation and Distribution for the Potash Corporation, a career he loved and excelled in for thirty years. Cyril's tough but fair negotiation tactics earned the admiration, friendship and respect of countless peers as well as the nickname The Bulldog. Cyril was an amazing person. His eternal optimism undoubtedly aided many to overcome adversities in life. To know Cyril was to know a faithful friend, an inspiring mentor, a dedicated worker, an unconditionallysupportive parent, doting grandfather and loving husband. His fearless battle with cancer is an example of what positive thinking, faith and strength of character can accomplish. Please join his family as we say goodbye to our hero. Vigil for Cyril will be held on Sunday, June 20th at 8:00 p.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 21st, at 10:30 a.m. Both services from Holy Family Roman Catholic Church (110-104th Street West) with Rev. Father David Tumback as the celebrant. Rite of Committal will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (101, 440-2nd Avenue N. Saskatoon, SK S7K 2C3 or the Saskatoon Cancer Research Centre (20 Campus Drive, Saskatoon, SK S7N 4H4). Arrangements in care of David Polzen MOURNING GLORY FUNERAL SERVICES (978-5200).

Shawn,

My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. I lost my dad 15 years ago, so I know how tough it is.
