I knew his mentality. Even know I never got to meet him just what I've watched on Gold Rush everyday for the past seasons I watch replays over and over again about him and the gloryhole. I wish him and Dustin where they got a great big pot of gold at the bottom of that thing didn't work out that way. I honestly think that Dustin should continue to mine because that's what his father would want. My heart goes out to Dustin today you lost a great warrior and the amazing father keep red up keep plugging away great things you're going to happen very soon. It's funny my wife is always saying why do you watch this stupid stuff well the stupid stuff is what I like I hope you can get over your loss it is a tremendous loss I lost my mother 2 months ago and it sucked. But you were a lot closer to your dad then I was in my mother so it probably makes it a lot tougher. Hang in there Dustin you'll get through this been watching your show for a long time help one day I can shake your hand because you are an amazing person. Take care of yourself. I'll pray for you everyday

Thanks for all the interesting adventures. When I was home without a job I looked all the seasons. Even now. It helped me the boring times. I became Special Enforcement Officer since 2013. Now I retired. Rip Fred and also thanks to Dustin. The interaction between father and son made me laugh. Take care Dustin. Best regards, Jacco from Holland.

To all of Dakota Fred's family and friends I'm truly sorry for your loss. Fred was a remarkable man with unbelievable love and drive to do the things he loved in life. I feel privileged to have been able to be a part of so many of his experiences through Gold Rush and Gold Rush White Water. I can't even imagine how I would feel if I knew him the way his friends and family do. Fred was young at heart and with an old soul comparable to the pioneers of the westward expansion as well as the California and Alaskan Gold Rush. He was and still is a truly inspirational man just as his son Dustin is. I feel blessed to have been able to see their relationship with one another through the shows and both of them have been a major inspiration to me and my interest in gold mining and I have learned a lot just by being able to view them on the show. There is only one Dakota Fred he surely won't be forgotten by those who knew him personally or those who watched the Gold Rush series and spin offs. God bless

Watching Fred and his son be able to bond and share an adventure together Always brought a smile to my face. The relationship wasn´t always perfect and but you knew the love was always there. He shared his knowledge when ever he could. I think by sharing his adventure and watching it through other peoples eyes as they experienced their firsts brought him great joy! I´m glad they were able to share this journey together. When he would zip line was the best! Truly a kid at heart. He will be deeply missed by all. He went out with his boots on! Not many people
At his age could say they lived their best life. Our condolences go out to the family. He will always be with you in spirit and be there for all your milestones.

I first became a fan of gold rush then followed when they went to whitewater. I was able to meet Fred at a gold show and he was beyond kind and always smiling. He autographed a picture and a gold pan for myself and my husband who I managed to get watching the shows as well. So hardworking, dedicated, ambitious and always seeming to see the better or gold at the end of the rainbow. Fred you will always be a part of my family and days I go out gold mining. It may be a year late in posting this but life up here in the PNW has been difficult at times for us. I cried the day I heard the news and still tear up when I see the picture of him on the TV. Your life and legacy will always be remembered.

As I look back, I am reminded of the range of emotions I experienced over the years. Fred brought a unique perspective to the Gold Rush family of shows. I even enjoyed the other Freds and hope they returns. I am also reminded that without the original show with Todd Hoffman, none of these shows may have appeared on the network. I bring this up because America and the worldwide audience, learn a lot from these people and this really Dirty job. These people make America great. Thank you Fred and Dustin. Thank you to Discovery channel for help making their dreams come true.

Dear Dustin and Family,
Though I didn't personally know Fred, I came to love, admire, and even worry about the man I somewhat got to know through TV. I'm a 66 year old gal and don't mind admitting that I cried when learning of Fred's death. His love of gold mining was palpable and I always wanted him to succeed. Fred's determination, sense of humor, and sweetness were so endearing. Dustin, I wish you much success as you continue mining as well as God's strength as you grieve the loss of a special man.
