Daniel Barber Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 17, 2024.
Daniel Barber passed away on March 5, 2024, leaving behind a beautiful light to those who truly knew him. Daniel was born in Greenwich, CT on November 1, 1963. He lived his life with curiosity always giving people his unconditional trust. He loved working outside in nature and felt he was a farmer in his heart. At one time he found himself in New York City working on various construction sites of high-rise buildings. The city was a cruel place to him, but he found joy in it too and would tell stories of all his favorite places, usually involving amazing food. Danny lived in Dover-Foxcroft for a period of time and found value in friendships there, especially in his time he volunteered at Center Theatre where he even earned "Volunteer of the year." Later in his life he worked hard on his sobriety and felt deep gratitude for the Greater Portland Salvation Army for opening their doors to him, there he was known as "The Book Man."

Danny is survived by his parents Diane and Glen Villane, his Stepmother Sharon, sister Leah and husband Kristopher, Sister Laura and significant other Richard, a brother Paul, a stepbrother Roger and stepsister Sheri, his nephews Isaak, William, and Allan Jr, Nieces Ruby and Augusta. He was pre-deceased by his biological father William Barber, sister Lauren and sister Leslie. If you wish to honor Danny's life, please consider donating in his name to the Portland Maine Salvation Army at 88 Preble Street Portland, ME 04101. When you smell a lilac or settle in with a good book please think of Danny. "I think if we learned to listen, we could hear all kinds of miracles" -John Boy the Waltons
