Daniel Spencer Preston Black, known affectionately as Dan, passed away on August 14, 2024, at the age of 79 in Niceville, Florida. Born on March 20, 1945, in Clarksburg, West Virginia, Dan lived a life marked by devotion to his family, service to his country, and a multitude of personal passions.

Dan was a man of deep faith and a member of Old Rock Baptist Church in Somerset, Texas as a young boy where his father was a Deacon. His community and his faith were integral parts of his life that he held dear to his heart.

He was a master craftsman in woodworking and particularly enjoyed building large train sets, a hobby that reflected his meticulous nature and love for detailed work. Dan also had a passion for coin collecting and decorating for Christmas, bringing joy and festive spirit to all who knew him.

An inurnment service will be held on September 13, 2024, at 10:30 am at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida. The service will be a time to honor and remember Dan's remarkable life and legacy.

Daddy, I miss you so very much. Losing you has been the hardest thing I've ever endured in my lifetime and I'd give everything for just one last talk, another hug, to watch one more football game with you or to even receive one more text from you. You were my first true love, my best friend and my entire world. This world is a little dimmer with you not here. I know you are in a better place but I can seem to make my heart accept this great loss. I'll see you again one day on the other side Daddy but until then you take care of Momma and get our house up there ready for us. I'll Love you always. Marty
