Daniel Cramer Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Sep. 12 to Sep. 20, 2023.
Daniel Jon Cramer , 78, of Eugene, OR, passed away on September 5th, 2023. He was born on August 11, 1945, in Lima, Ohio, of Harry and Marguerite Cramer. Dan was raised in Delphos, Ohio, and worked as a Harry Seymore newsboy delivering the Blade, Lima News and the Delphos Herald. Dan was an avid boy scout. He graduated from Delphos St. John's High School where he lettered each year in football, basketball and baseball, and is where he got noticed by a Phillies scout.

Dan served in the Army's National Guard from 1965-1970. He was drafted by the Philadeplhia Phillies and played minor league baseball as a pitcher from 1965-1967 in Spartanburg, SC, Bakersfield, CA and Eugene, OR. Afterwards, he played for the Eugene Emeralds for two years and a Eugene community softball league, Luby's, for many summers thereafter. Dan entered the banking industry in the early 1970's where he retired after 38 years, in 2010, as a commercial banker.

He married Susan E. Kenyon in 1973 and shared 49 wonderful years of marriage. During this time Dan enjoyed building and remodeling projects. He built his cabin at Crescent Lake which they enjoyed with family and friends for over 40+ years. He was always willing to help family, friends and neighbors with any home projects they had. Dan was a fix it guy right up until the end. He and his wife traveled to many countries all over the world, always welcoming adventure.

Dan was preceded in death by his wife, Susan; his parents, Harry and Marguerite Cramer; brothers, Charles, Carroll, Larry and sisters, Marilyn and Mary Lou. He is survived by his brothers; Phillip and Jack and sister Jane. Dan was proudest of his 3 daughters; Debra, Lori and Shari, and his 3 grandchildren, Ryan, Brandon and Emma, and 2 great grandchildren, Kenli and River.

Dan has left us with many good memories to cherish, and we will miss him greatly. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations in memory of Dan can be made to Eugene Emeralds.

He and Sue walking down the road at Crescent with two year-old Kimberly, who had wandered away. We were friends for over 40 years. I miss them.

Dear Debi, Shari and Lori,
I worked with your mom for over 20 years at the pipe company and, of course, got to know Dan along the way. I miss them both and was privileged to have them in my life. My heart goes out to you.

Dan was my and my former husbands personal banker , many years ago. He was always so friendly and welcoming. Years later, I ran into him off and on. He was always interested in what was going on in my life and quick to give helpful solutions to remodeling projects. He was the kind of guy who seemed to think of others more than himself. My heart goes out to his family, Hang on to those memories as I'm sure you have many!

My first memory is seeing these two very tall people coming back with my lost two year old while we were up in the mountains at the cabin. That was in 1980. He and Sue became Kim´s savior more than once. I am so grateful to of had a 40 year plus friendship with two wonderful people. I miss them greatly.

Uncle Dan always had time for anyone who needed help, had a question or just needed a friend. He truly cared about everyone and wanted to learn about them. He would ask me how my career was going and how each member of our family was doing. He was the best.
