It has been 6 years since my beloved son Dan died. I miss him terribly but feel such gratitude to have had the privilege of being his mom. He was kind, loving, funny, sensitive and an extraordinary writer. He cared deeply about people of all ages and backgrounds. His writing was a voice for the voiceless. With each article he wrote he wanted his readers to empathize and understand the feelings of others. He cared deeply about people who were marginalized and treated unfairly and always spoke out about their situation. He always inspired me to make a difference with my life. He is always in my heart.

I did not have the privilege to know Daniel, but I would have loved to spend even an hour in his company.
Dan was a true friend. I miss him terribly.

A former classmate of Dan's suggested we post here the comments we'd posted on the Class of 1991's Facebook page.

I was devastated to learn about the death of Danny Eisenbud. He was honestly like a third son to me and spent A LOT of time with our family either in Villanova or at our Pocono house.
We enjoyed every minute of his company.
Dan and I had been in contact the last few years, which was a real treasure. Recently he mentioned he'd 'seen enough for a lifetime' and was planning to return to the States. He said that he and I would have a 'family reunion'. It''s beyond belief that that will never be.
The funny, good-hearted boy that Dan was grew to be a talented journalist who was trying to make a difference in the world - and, most importantly in Israel. He left a much bigger hole in the world - and in so many hearts - than he ever could've imagined.
Will love and miss you forever my Danny. (I hope you & Claude are hanging out 'up there'.)

Dan was a special guy. He balanced deep caring for others with an off the wall sense of humor. Things were never dull, and always fun, when Dan was around. Thank you, Dan, for all of the great memories.
I rode my bike past his old house on Panorama Road today and gave him a big thumbs up, Budster style.
God bless your soul, Dan. I also pray for God's peace to surround his family during this time and always

I lit a Yahrzeit candle for Danny this morning when I got home in Boston from the memorial services in Philly, and I said a little something for him: Danny, this candle I light for you so that I can remember that your beautiful, dedicated, compassionate soul, of which your heart was a beacon, can remain alive by way of the thoughts, memories and actions of those that you have touched in this life, including mine, however small. May we all marry a piece of his goodness into ours.

Dan was a rare gem in this world- the purest heart filled with so much love for all of those around him. He had a sense of others pain or need just by glancing into their eyes- he was never fearful of reaching out to his friends in need with a hug, smile, and arming them with the purest love and friendship to help them push threw whatever might have been wrong. Anyone who was lucky enough to have known Dan knew that he was special. His smile lit up a room and his heart made this world a better place. He will forever be missed.

We are some of his devoted readers who never failed to find humanity in his writings here in Israel. He is terribly missed.
