Daniel Jones

Daniel Joseph Jones, born on August 9, 1999, in Detroit, Michigan, passed away on November 21, 2024, in Shelby Township, Michigan. He was the loving son of Jay and Karen Jones and cherished brother to Derek (Rachael) Jones and Dayna (Caleb) Voetberg . Daniel was a devoted boyfriend to Paula Mateus and a loving uncle to Amelia, Lucy, Caroline, and Kennedy.

He was the grandson of Jerry and Ann Jones and is preceded in death by his grandmother Carol Jones and grandparents LaVonne and Joe Bourgois. Daniel was a dear nephew to Michele and Randy Breen, Mark and Laura Bourgois, Rick and Cathy Jones, Susan and Mike Routledge, and Ericka Lipman. He was a cousin to Abigail, Luke, William, Margaret, and Mary Jones; Elijah (Erica), Natalie, Jude, and Gideon Routledge; Joe (Amanda) Breen, Melissa (Matt) Mergogey, Andrew (Katie) Bourgois, Alex (Brittany) Bourgois; Ryan, Haley, and Austin Lipman.

Daniel was known for his love, loyalty, kindness, compassion, generosity, and playful attitude. He had a great sense of humor and a deep love for his family, friends, and his faith in Jesus Christ. Growing up, Daniel was active in his church youth group and formed lasting friendships in his neighborhood and schools. He was a 2018 graduate of Eisenhower High School.

He was especially close to his loving and devoted girlfriend Paula, as well as his closest friends Noah, Adam, Eryn, Ethan, and Zac.

An avid sports enthusiast, Daniel enjoyed playing and watching various sports and was a passionate Pittsburgh Steelers fan since their 2006 Super Bowl appearance in Detroit. One of the players was a close friend of his aunt Susie and uncle Mike.

Daniel's faith was central to his life, and he is now at peace with his Lord. His family and friends find solace in the hope and assurance of reuniting with him one day. This is not goodbye, but goodnight, until we meet again.
