Daniel Robert Julien

Daniel Robert Julien, 74, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, passed away surrounded by his loving family on December 2, 2023. Born on March 26, 1949, in Detroit, Michigan, Dan was the beloved husband of Kay (Ruddy) and a loving father to Shawn (Molly) Julien, Adam (Natalie) Julien, and Jason Julien. He was a cherished "Poppy" to Paige, Sloane, Elle, Norah, and Frank. Dan was also a great brother to Linda Sandahl, Jan (Randy) Root, and Lona Julien. He was a cherished uncle to many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Lona (Caffery) Julien, brother Rob (Sandra) Julien and his brother-in-law Ron Sandahl.

Dan graduated from Lakeview High School (St. Clair Shores, Michigan) in 1967 and went on to further his studies at Ferris State where he met the love of his life, Kay. They raised their family in Troy, Michigan and later relocated to Macomb, Michigan and then Grand Rapids, Michigan. He had a successful career, retiring full time from Tom Halbeisen Goodyear and working part time for Napa Auto Parts.

In his free time, Daniel enjoyed spending quality time with his family, particularly during their annual summer vacation in northern Michigan and winter vacation in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Family was of utmost importance to him, and he cherished every moment spent with his loved ones.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date to honor and remember Daniel's remarkable life. Please no flowers. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to support throat cancer research for the Oral Cancer Foundation at donate.oralcancerfoundation.org.

Dan will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of loving and knowing him. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
