Daniel J. Klisch, 80, of Gamma Rd., Corry, Pa., died Saturday, December 3, 2016, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Erie, Pa.
He was born August 29, 1936, in Akron, Oh., a son of the late Joseph and Pearl Hubiak Klisch (Kliszcz).
Dan was raised and educated in Akron, Oh. Following high school he moved to San Francisco, Ca. where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of San Francisco. He then served with the U. S. Army in the 3rd Infantry Division Headquarters, G2 section, during the building of the Berlin Wall and the Cuban Missile Crisis. Following his honorable discharge in 1962, Dan began his career as a heavy industrial design and construction engineer. He worked for a wide variety of businesses over the years, retiring in 2003.
He was a member of the VFW Post #264 Honor Guard and the Corry Masonic Lodge #365. Dan was also a member of the Zem Zem Shriners of Erie, Zem Zem Shriners Motor Corp of Erie and the Syrian Shriners Clown Unit of Cincinnati, Ohio.
In addition to his parent's, Dan was preceded in death by a sister, Anne Miller, and by four brothers, John Kliszcz in infancy, Theodore, Paul and John Klisch.
Dan is survived by his wife, Joan McElwee Hannan-Klisch, whom he married July 5, 2014 in Corry, Pa.; a daughter, Jennifer T. Klisch and her fiancé Ken Hill of Simi Valley, Ca.; two step- daughters, Kimberly Borstorff and her husband Thomas of Girard, Pa., and Karen Grape and her husband Dave of Brighton, Tn.; a step-son, Kirk Oswald and his wife Lea of Telford, PA.; and grandson, David Hatfield and his wife Katie and great-grandson, Henry McCoy Hatfield all of Simi Valley, Ca.
Also surviving are eight step-grandchildren, Thomas, Todd, Tiara, Ashley, Sarah, Kirstie, Kyle and Anthony; and four step-great grandchildren, Claire, Drew, Mason and Baelyn and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Bracken Funeral Home, 315 N. Center St., Corry, Pa., on Thursday from 5 to 7 pm, with a Masonic Service at 6:45 pm. Additional visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 10 am until the time of the funeral service there at 11 am. Rev.Larry Myers and Daniel McEldowney will co-officiate.
Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Corry, Pa.
Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, 1645 W. 8th St., Erie, Pa., 16505.

I was a blessing of laughter and love to have met Dan. He was a character of a man. It was not hard to tell the love he had for Aunt Joan. Not just her, but her whole family. Lots of heart felt love and prayers from the Southern McElwee clan.
