Daniel Lamont Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 18, 2023.
Daniel Kevin Lamont, 63, of Sugarland, Texas, passed away on August 11, 2023. He was born on February 18, 1960, in Midland, TX. Daniel was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

Daniel was a vibrant individual with an infectious smile. He enjoyed spending time at the beach, singing karaoke, playing disc golf, writing poetry, and going on memorable vacations. He could always make you laugh with funny stories, animal noises, and voice impersonations. His intellect and wit were beyond compare.

He was a proud member of the PDGA Professional Disc Golf Association from 1995 thru 2010 where he played in 23 Advanced Master Tournaments and won 3. He helped design the Wilmont Disc Golf course at Tom Bass Regional Park in 1997 with Don Wilchek. In his 20's and 30's he was a great slow pitch pitcher in Softball and was always in high demand.

Dan (or Dano as his friends called him) was Grill Master at Henry's Steak House located in Bellaire while going to BHS. Dan was a seismic expert with 40 plus years of experience. He was an expert in LandMark, Geoframe, Paradigm, and SMT. This interpretation software was used to analyze seismic data gathered from underground to enable exploration companies to pinpoint high probability areas of oil and gas deposits before making expensive, high-risk commitments to drilling.

He is survived by his loving wife, Marcela Lamont, his devoted daughter, Misty Kahn, and her husband, Trent Kahn, and his cherished daughter, Jessica McGahey, and her husband, Ryan McGahey. Daniel (Danpa) will be deeply missed by his adorable grandchildren, Avery, Andrew, Colt, Wyatt, and Alyvia. He is also survived by his sister, Deborah Wrobleski and his brother, Bill Lamont, and sister-in-law, Natalie Lamont. Daniel will be fondly remembered by numerous extended family members and friends.

Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, William and Janet Lamont, as well as his grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many dear friends. Their memory will forever be cherished.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate Daniel's life will be held at Bellaire United Methodist Church on August 23, 2023, at 3 PM. Family and friends are invited to attend and pay their respects.

One of Daniel's favorite things was to help others whenever he could. Selfless acts like using money for Christmas, to give to a family in need rather than buying presents for the family, and teaching us all with those acts of service. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to your favorite charitable organization in his name.

May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his cherished memories bring comfort to those who loved him.

So sad to hear. He was a good friend at Amerada Hess, and always made me laugh and smile. Dear Lord bless his family and hold them close. May Daniel rest in peace in your loving arms.

I worked with Dan at BP for Wipro and have only today learned of his passing. Such a terrible surprise to hear of his passing. Although I managed Dan as part of my role, I considered him a friend and always looked forward to catching up with him on my visits to the team in Houston from my home in Aberdeen, Scotland. I could write more of my friend but it is all covered in his obituary so well. I recognise all I felt he was in the text and more. In particular, I remember his warmth, his humour and his loyalty to me and the team. A sad loss but his memory will stay in my heart and none more fondly of the night out with team when he demonstrated his lovely voice in song much to my surprise. A man of many talents loved by all.

Belated Good Night my friend xx

Used to work with Dan at Amerada Hess in the 80s. He was a very intelligent person and all round good guy. Wish I had kept in touch more. RIP

Dano was a warm wonderful man that always made me laugh. He was always there to help me and my children if we needed help. He is greatly missed and I know how much he loved his daughters and grand children. I will miss his impressions of the Simpsons and calling him the Big bo PA. He will be missed

My children called him Daniel Duck when they were little. We last saw him at Charlie's memorial service in the Fall. I picture them both together on a beach somewhere. Condolences and prayers to his family. May he rest in peace.

Misty, and family, Kathy told me the other day of this and I just saw this referenced on Linked In. You and your family are frequently in our thoughts of late and we wish you love, comfort, and the best journey possible through this difficult time. It was nice to read of his hobbies and exploits - disc golf is one of my many interests... Best, Christopher
