Auburn, MA, USA - Daniel A. "Dan" Sweeney, 92, of Auburn, died Wednesday, August 6, 2025. He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Patricia A. (Burke) Sweeney in 2018. He leaves 6 children, Kathleen Liberty of Worcester and her late husband David Liberty, Karen Blanchette of Greenville NC, Daniel Sweeney Jr. of Auburn, David Sweeney and his wife Ellen of Leicester, Michelle Dumas of Leicester, and Michael Sweeney and his wife Shanon of Oxford; a nephew James Sweeney and his wife Lois of Rutland; 9 grandchildren, David Liberty and his wife Shelby, Matthew Liberty, Tori Blanchette, Patrick Sweeney, James & Ryan Sweeney, Richard Dumas and his wife Ashley, Kristine Whitcomb and her husband Kyle, and Seamus Sweeney; 2 great grandchildren Charlotte & Augustus Liberty and many nieces and nephews.

He was born in Jefferson, MA, son of the late James J. Sweeney and Bessie R. (Barrus) Patient. He proudly served in the Air Force National Guard for 21 years. He was a truck driver for Carlton Trucking Co., Inc. for 40 years before retiring. He loved being a father, "papa" and a benevolent soul that would help anyone. He enjoyed playing Santa for his grandkids and daycare children and would often bring his antique car to the Bethel Lutheran Preschool in Auburn so all of the children could enjoy rides.

A celebration of life to honor Daniel and a private burial will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Veterans Inc., 69 Grove Street, Worcester, MA 01605 in his honor.
