Hello,
We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this month and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and hometown of Daniel Ryan "Danny" Varnado US Army Sergeant.
We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families and friends and others who support our mission.
We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,

It's my birthday tommorow and I wish so much you were here!! I miss you so much. I think about you everyday. My life is so different without you. You were the glue in this family, maybe thats why God took you to show us how to lean on Him. We always remember how you loved life. You loved playing baseball but what most people didnt know your favorite sport was basketball. You were so funny and so pridefull. I can remember constantly getting on you for being so conceited in a loving way!! You always said Mom I'm just messing with you. You were so loving, so thoughtful. so caring always taking care of your dad and I. I wish you could be with us, We love you Danny!!

Hey, I cant remember the last time I saw you, you know it is so hard to get down to visit Uncle David and you all with my Dad and our family traveling everywhere. You were always the cousin I could talk to about anything and we always seemed to get along when everyone else was acting up. Im in Afghanistan right now and not a day goes by that I dont miss you tremendously. You are in my heart, my thoughts and my soul. I love you and I will never forget what a great person you are the great things you have done for our family and our country.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Daniel, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

It's hard to believe 3 years have passed tomorrow. And yet it feels like yesterday. Still not a day goes by without a thought of you, first a tear, then a smile and remembering yours brings comfort. And the sacrifice you gave for all. Always loved, forever remembered never to be forgotten.

Yesterday morning my radio alarm went off and George Strait's "You'll Be There" was playing. I still can't listen to that song without thinking about Danny. There are so many things that happen in our every day lives that bring back the memories of those we miss so much. David and Joanie - I hope you know how much we all still miss Danny and we will never forget him! Love in Christ, Ronnie

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

Before my own tragic loss, I always felt sorrow for every fallen soldier and their families; now I know the agonizing pain each family goes through. It has been 8 long months since our wonderful husbands went to be with Jesus! And most of the days I look back and wonder how I made it thru most of those days! And I know if I did not have Jesus that I would not be here today! It's because of his Grace I can stand here proud of what our husbands did and know that one day soon we will get to see them again! Even though we know we are going to see them again, it doesn't make it any easier! There are days when I get down, and I will go to McKaLyne and hug her. It feels as if I am hugging Daron! He left me a wonderful part of him! I will always cherish her!
I always thought of it as Daron is missing out on McKaLyne's life. NO, I am wrong. He only missed out on her life from the March 25,the day he left for Iraq, till May 23,the day God called him home! Because from May 23rd on, he has not and will not miss one second of her life! He is seeing everything she does, even when she sleeps at night! Not only is Daron seeing her, but our husbands are watching over us too!
We see people that have an Angel that says "I'm your guardian Angel" in there cars. We can proudly say we personally know our Guardian Angels! What an Honor! They are in Heaven, a place we spend our whole life trying to do what's right so that one day we can go! On May 23, 2005, they heard the final words, "Welcome thou good and faithful servant, Enter In". They don't have to suffer anymore. They have no problems! You could actually say they have to best of both worlds... They are in Heaven but they can watch over us!
I know it's not easy at night to go to bed alone. I know it's hard when our children do something new or wonderful, we just want to pick up the phone and let them know. Because I have caught myself attempting to do that even after it's been several months. Everything we go thru is for a reason. We may never know, but God does. And he has it all worked out! Even before we were born he knew! Always know they are watching down on us! And we will see them again soon!!!!
Always know you ladies are in my prayers! And if there is anything you need, please contact me!
I Love you and I am praying for you!

Psalm 23
1
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2
He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
3
He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
6
Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
This is a verse that I have found to be comforting to me during my husbands death. Remember that when it seems that no one else is round, God is still there with you! And he will be your rock!
My daughter,McKaLyne, and I send our heartfelt sympathy for your loss! God Bless this warrior, God Bless those whom serve freedom's cause! They are our true HERO's!!!!

It seems just like yesterday that i got the dreadful knock on the door... But it has almost been 8 months.. The hardest 8 months of our lives... But with God we are going to make it!!! I think of it as God needed a few more angels... and he picked the best he could find... I know that it doesn't make it any easier... But to think that one day soon we will get to see them again... makes it all the better!
Our husbands, will never be forgotten!!! I have a 17 month old dughter, McKaLyne, and she knows her Da Da is a HERO!!! And when she gets older she will about all of her Da Da's buddies... And know that they are True HERO's!!!
If you happen to have any pics of my husband or the platoon they were with, if you don't mind I would like to have them. Also, the 155 made a banner that is hung at Camp Shelby were the guys are unloading that are coming home from Iraq. And it has our husbands name on it. I have a picture of it. All of us in Co C 1-155th Infantry will always rember you and your famlies forever. You were like a son to me. Danny was my best friend and had an impact on my life like no other. I could spend hours telling people what kind of person, father and friend he was, but the truth is unless you knew him personally my explaination of him would not do him any justice. My husband was one of the other three men involved in this horrible incident. All I can say is that they died fighting for freedom and that should always be remembered first. It is extremely hard to go on after a tragedy like this one, but I too have a young child to raise that will never know her daddy and that's one of the hardest things for me to deal with every day. Sharon, if you ever need anything, please call me or if you ever want to talk, I will be there for you. I know what you're going through because I'm in the same boat with you. I am so proud of Bryan and I'm sure you are equally proud of Daniel. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this trying time and just know that God is always there. Dear Joni, David, Sharon and all the Vanardo family,
Several times I have come to this site trying to log my entry.... I just don't know how to put into words the sorrow our family feels for you all. Words can never express the way we feel. We loved Danny and are so glad to have all the memories of him on the ball field! But better than any of that is "knowing" that Danny had given his life to the Lord! No victory on a ballfield can compare to the victory he had in JESUS! We loved Danny and love you all dearly. We are praying for you all to have peace and comfort in the Lord. With much love,

We watched Danny graduate high school, get married and he and his wife have a baby. Joel remembers the paint ball days in the trail the most. Danny is in a far better place than we are; although we would rather him be with us. God has a plan though we may not know what it is, it will come to light one day. You all are in our prayers. Keep God close to your heart. God Bless you all.

David and Joni, I can't say that I know what you're going through, but I know God had a good reason for taking Danny so soon. Danny was a precious gift, and he was so special to everyone who knew him. He was so full of love and happiness. You both were such good parents. Danny gave you a precious grandson, and a part of him will live on through Kannon. David, if you or Joni need anything just let us know. We will always be here for you. Our heart goes out to you. We will pray for you and your family. We love you all.

Sharon, Joni, David, Dusty, Destini - Our selfish human side says Danny was taken from us way too soon. But we know it was part of God's plan and that Danny is truly in the "big league" now. We'll miss his sheepish grin and silly, contagious laugh! He was like family to us and we're glad he was a part of our lives. We are praying for you all and know that God's comfort will sustain you through this difficult time! We love you!

From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for the tremendous sacrifice you have made for our country and the cause of freedom. This Memorial Day, we join with you in celebrating the life of Sgt. Varnado, and join in the prayers of many who ask God to grant you His grace and peace as you grieve your great loss. Our brave men and women in uniform may not consider themselves heroes, but they are. They are the best of the best, and their courage gives us hope that America can once again be as noble and great as her past. May we be inspired by their bravery and willingness to serve in such a way as to make a real difference in the world around us. May we always remember… and never forget. God bless you!
