I was thinking of Darin today, April 27, not knowing he had passed. It was the 42nd anniversary of he, Kevin Hopkins and I on our adventure of driving to New York City with the idea of getting jobs because High School was pretty repetitive! We were stopped by Virginia troopers who just received the APB as they were releasing us! They detained us until our fathers escorted us home. We wore matching docksiders, sunglasses and Virginia shirts the first day back to school! At least we thought we were cool. Every April 27th throughout my life, I chuckle inside about the memory. Rush and Boston was our soundtrack up and back. Today, I googled Darin because after all these years, I wanted to call him. I was shocked and heartbroken. As I drove through the Tennessee countryside digesting the news, Boston played on the local station. I took it as Darin saying hi to his old high school friend. I called my best friend Kevin to share the news. My heart goes out to Darin's family. We grew up in adjoining neighborhoods and I remember
walking to his house in high school and he was always pumping weights! His sister Brenda was always so sweet. I'll miss you buddy.

I will never forget how friendly and polite Darin was when I met him years ago. He will do anything for anyone when needed, he's just that type of a person. May you rest in peace.....

The one thing I will always remember about Darin. Every time I talk to him on the phone on in person, He would say "I THOUGHT I FIRED YOU" Darin will be missed.

Darin taught me to trust myself more at work. To take the leap. If you make a mistake, learn from it and move on. He told all of his supervisors that. He was teaching us to make decisions - that we were capable. He always made us laugh. He made work FUN. We knew he always had our back. We had his. I will miss him so much. He is irreplaceable.
