God gained a very special angel when Darla J. Mudd, 63, of Midland, passed away unexpectedly Saturday morning March 21, 2015 at MidMichigan Medical Center. The daughter of Erma (Babcock) and the late Donald Riggie was born in Midland on Feb. 23, 1952. Darla was an amazing, wonderful, high spirited lady who was an inspiration to everyone. She loved spending time at her cabin in Oscoda. Darla loved her stepsons and their families very much, especially her grandkids, who held a very special place in her heart.

Surviving is her husband of 20 years, Mitchell (sweet baby) Mudd, of whom she married on March 4, 1995; stepsons, Joshua (Amy) Mudd, Nathan (Stephanie) Mudd; step grandchildren, Alyssa, Sylas and Liam Mudd; her mother, Erma Riggie; sisters, Gilda (Lonnie) Laubscher, Dena (Moe) Vaziri, June (Kirk Jurn) Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Darla's life will take place 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2015 from the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home, 4210 N. Saginaw Road, with the Rev. Teal Saylor officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 1-4 and 6-8 p.m., and on Wednesday, from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered to Shriners Hospital for Children. Personal messages of condolence may be offered at www.wilson-miller.com.

I remember Darla as a young kid, teenager and through my adult years. She was a very special person to me. I remember her giggle mostly and always made me laugh...she taught me how to macrame--so much fun! I haven't seen or talked to her in years as I had moved away for many years and just recently moved back...I did try to get ahold of her but I must have had an old Phone # because I never got a call back and I know she would have called me for sure. She was always so happy and funny and upbeat...genuine. A very, genuine caring person who made a significant impact in my life. I will miss her dearly...Love and prayers to her family through this very difficult time...I pray that God's peace that passes all understanding minister to all of you right now and that you all look forward to seeing her again someday. Darla was such a sweet fun loving cousin, she would do anything for you. She always had a smile on her face. I remember when her and Gilda would babysit Gena and I, Many years ago.
