Darrell Wayne Leonard, 46, nicknamed Big D, a former resident of Davidson County, passed away September 16, 2018 at the New Hanover Medical Center as the result of an accident.

Big D was born in Davidson County, December 18, 1971, a son of the late Glenn Thomas Leonard and Willa Mae Hallene Bailey Leonard. He and his wife owned and operated D & S Tree Service. Big D loved hunting, fishing, camping, tree work and doing "paperwork". He was preceded in death by his sister, Beverly Poindexter and a nephew, Kyle Cook.

Surviving are his wife, Shannon Nichole Leonard; a son, Zack Leonard; a brother, Rick Leonard and numerous other extended family members.

Arrangements for Big D are still pending at this time.
