I found this when cleaning out my desk today. I saved it when we moved our office, with the intention of sending it to him never did. He drew this at the work one day then titled it where it stayed on the bulletin board long after he left. My only contact with him when he moved to Lethbridge was playing ‘Words with Friends’.

Darryl, I had a premonition about you today, knowing yesterday was your birthday. There was a sense of sadness as I googled your name, trying to find your contact information. I hope you are reading this from the place we go to one day. You were a wonderful person and soul. I will remember you fondly and our times in Montreal, our trip and education about Saskatoon and being young together. Those memories are most dear to me. I still have all your letters. My condolences to your wonderful family. I am sure they are still devastated by your passing. Love, Parker Wallace

The little boy who lived down the lane. . . How shocked and absolutely saddened was I to learn of Darryl's passing. While I wasn't a part of his adult life, my memories of Darryl as an incredibly creative and talented boy have always remained with me. My heart goes out to Dalene and the Zoerb family.

Darryl was a wonderful person who I was honoured to call a friend. I first met Darryl at the U of M, where he wowed us all with his remarkable talent, quick wit, good looks and brilliant smile. He was a kind and nurturing man who saw the beauty in the things that most of us take for granted, made us laugh until our sides ached, and mentored those around him by simply shining in our midst. I took for granted that one day he would return to Saskatoon to live, and I'd be blessed again with having him near. My deepest condolences to the Zoerb Family for this terrible loss.

So very sorry to hear of Darryl's untimely passing. He was one of my Facebook buddies. The photos of the natural world he posted on Facebook were so beautiful. I came to know Darryl when I taught band at Brunskill. He played the flute beautifully. He was such a lovely kid - so sensitive, kind and thoughtful. So intelligent and creative. I will miss his posts on Facebook very much and I will never forget him. May Darryl rest in peace.

Thinking of you all at this difficult time of grief and sadness. My favorite memory of Daryl was when he lipsynced to me as part of 'The Turtles' at our wedding. I always think him when I hear the song Time of the Season, remembering how he sauntered up to me singing "What's your name? Who's your Daddy?"
Our hearts are with you.

I've been filled with such a profound sadness since hearing about Darryl's passing. I'm at a loss for words to express how very sorry I am over your loss. I have so many fond memories of the countless hours Darryl and I spent sitting beside each other during all those years of band rehearsals, performances and trips. He was wise, witty and kind. I am unable to make it back to Saskatoon for his celebration of life, but you will be in my thoughts and prayers.

I attended the University of Saskatchewan along side of Darryl, he was always such a positive and charismatic fellow, although younger than I was he made a strong impression on me with his confidence and friendliness. We lost touch over the years but reconnected the last couple years on Facebook, he continued to impress me with beautiful photos that he would make and post. He had a wonderful connection with the prairies and knew how to show the landscape off beautifully! Darryl will be missed by many and the grief and sorrow his loved ones feel now is directly commensurate with how deep the love you shared. My condolences, Perry

To all the Zoerb family,
I met Darryl shortly after he and Gregg moved to Edmonton. Darryl's wit, intelligence, and joie de vivre made an instant inpression. We became good friends. Another friend identified inquisitiveness as a key element in Darryl's character and I agree. He wanted to explore, and he encouraged others to broaden their horizons. Darryl was a wonderful man of great talent. I will remember that smile, that laugh, that slightly bow legged walk, that little bit of mockery that emerged if one became pompous, and many acts of kindness he showed to me. I will miss you amigo.
To Darryl's family and all the others who treasured him, my deepest sympathies.

To repeat the words of many in this guest book, Darryl was such a kind and beautiful soul. During our lives, there will be a handful of people we meet that leave a lasting impression of integrity, creativity, sympathy, and modesty. Darryl is one of these people. I knew Darryl during my Faculty of Architecture years at UofM and reconnected years ago on facebook. We shared a love of nature and the prairies and were always the first to comment on each others photos of sunsets, the amazing prairie thunderstorms, grasslands and infinite horizons. Darryl appreciated the beauty in the world and that is how I will remember him.
My condolences to the family and close friends of Darryl, he will be missed by so many.

Dear Dale, Maureen, Cheryl, Kathy, Dalene, and Family,
Words can't express this but I will try Please accept deepest condolences from myself and the rest of my family. I think you know I cared greatly for Darryl and will miss many things about my old elementary and high school buddy. I especially was amazed at how well Darryl was able to deal with so many girls around him telling him what to do all the time (and not counting the Doctor). I will never forget his beautiful creative spirit and was lucky enough to be able to share some virtual moments with him again this last year. I look forward to sharing more with you when I am back in town again. Sincerely,
Helen Hyde

Just finished reading the previous 46 messages. Couldn't agree more that he was special. I too always believed in him and never gave up hope that he would conquer his demons. I had prayed for a different outcome but I accept that there is a power that knows better than me the right time and way for Darryl to leave us. Still, it makes me profoundly sad. All my love to the Zoerb family.

Words cannot express how devastating this loss is to SO many. The outpouring of grief I have experienced from those who have contacted me has been overwhelming. Darryl was a very loved man and I was honoured to be a close friend of his these past years while his life went through so much transition. I knew him well from high school and reconnected with him years ago when he moved to Vancouver to study teaching French Immersion. I know this must be more than devastating. Please know my heart goes out to all of you and to everyone who knew and loved him. He was such a kind, humble, creative, funny, and intelligent man - this is such a tragedy. I never knew someone more well liked and loved than Darryl. I know his love for his family was the biggest thing in his heart. We talked a lot about his love for you all and how much that meant to him in his life. Words truly cannot express the depth of this loss - as I'm sure you know. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Please feel free to contact me if you need to. I wish there was something I could do to ease your pain.
