David Alamo Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 20, 2024.
David Francis Alamo, known affectionately as Dave, passed away on September 11, 2024, in Hughson, California, at the age of 88. Born on March 27, 1936, in Los Banos, California, Dave spent his formative years in the area, attending Canal School in Gustine and Gustine High School. He furthered his education and graduated through the Modesto Junior College Adult Ed. Program.

Dave dedicated much of his career to agriculture and public service in California. He worked on his family's dairy and several others in and around Gustine before joining the workforce at local creameries, including Golden State and Foremost in Los Banos. His career path later led him to the State of California, where he made significant contributions at the Cal Trans department and the Department of Water Resources at the San Luis Dam until his retirement.

A man of many interests, Dave was particularly passionate about 1932 Fords, having once owned a model of each variant from that year. He also harbored a deep love for Harley Davidson motorcycles, a testament to his appreciation for classic American engineering.

Dave's personality was marked by his friendliness and his innate ability to make lasting connections. He was always ready to lend a hand, valuing family and friendships above all. His life was enriched by his wife, Mary C. Alamo, and his children: Becky (Jeff) Carlson, Rocky (Tammy)
Borba, John Alamo (Cindy), and Vincent Alamo. He was a proud grandfather and great-grandfather to several grandchildren. Dave also leaves behind his siblings, Eugene (Emily) Alamo, Melvin (Maria) Alamo, Mary (Jerry) Culwell, Carmina (Bill) Mattos, and sister in law Shirley Alamo. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe C. and Adelaide May Alamo, and his brother Joe F. Alamo.

His funeral will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at Shrine of OLM Catholic Church in Gustine, CA. Visitation will occur from 9-10 AM, followed by a Christian Burial Mass at 10 AM. Internment will follow at Hills Ferry Cemetery in Newman, CA. Hillview Funeral Chapels in Gustine, CA, is assisting the family during this time.

Dave's legacy is one of love, service, and community-a life beautifully lived and fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Our Deepest Sympathy to Mary and the Family,
We stopped by to see David a few years back at his place in Oakdale and my husband came very close to buying his old Willie! He and Vincent were a kick to watch on American Pickers when they came to his place! We will miss seeing David at the Festas, such a kind individual he will be dearly missed.
