David Antebi Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 24, 2024.
David Antebi of Highland Park, NJ passed away on July 17, 2024 at the age of 96. He is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years, Paula Antebi, his children Julian, Adam and Nadine, grandchildren Jordan, Soren, and Alexander, and loving sister, Gloria Gura. Born to Linda and Harry Antebi, he grew up in Brooklyn and attended City College. He earned his masters' degree at the University of Michigan, and went on to become a Professor at Rutgers School of Social Work. He was a man of incredible energy and love of life. He brought his teaching to life through video and photographic media, and was active in the civil rights, anti-war, and social justice movements. He was passionate about the arts, doing sculpture, ceramics, photography, and computer graphics, exhibiting his work throughout the NJ/NY metropolitan area. He loved listening to all kinds of music, especially jazz, world music and J.S. Bach. David was also an avid nature lover, and enjoyed hiking, camping, kayaking, cross country skiing and gardening. He traveled the world with his wife and loved to photograph and engage with people from all walks of life. Most of all he was a loving husband, great father, and grandfather who listened well and gave good life advice even to his last days. He will be greatly missed.
