Mr. Bashor monitored the outside lunch time activities when I attended Johnston School in the early 60's. He taught me how to play soccer and from time to time would bounce the ball off my thick scull until I learned the lesson he wanted me to learn. I have thought of him fondly over the past 45 years. He definitely made a positive difference in my life. My thoughts and prayers to his family and friends

To Fred and Family,

I had the pleasure to talk to pops on the phone a few weeks ago. He told me how proud he was of Fred and all of his children and how good they were taking care of him. I only met him a few times and he touched my heart tremendously. God Bless

I had Mr. Bashor for 5th grade science, math, and social studies at Johnston School, 1968-9. He was a great and memorable teacher. I never saw him again after leaving his class, yet I thought of him often. I am quite saddened by the news of his passing.

Bashor Family,

As a fellow teacher with Dave at USC since 1965, it was a always
a pleasure to know him. His positive,
outgoing personality made every day
pleasant for his students and fellow
staff members. I had the pleasure to see Dave play soccer with the students at Johnston during recess.
His superior skills inspired them.
He will be missed.

To the Family of Mr. Bashor,

As a forth grade student of Mr. Bashor in the 1963-1964 school year, I remember, quite vividly, the tears in his eyes as he came into the classroom to tell us of President Kennedy's passing.

We all LOVED Mr. Bashor and relished his stories of his (then) six children at home. As I would repeat his stories at home, my mother would would shake her head in wonderment, marveling at his capacity to be with 4th graders all day and then go home to full complement of small children.

His gentle ways and sublime teaching made me rush to school each day in order to see him. In fact I remember jumping to give him a kiss, as the class walked the school grounds on the last day of school. (O, THAT WAS a radical departure, since, in our household, noone ever kissed.).

While I had many, many superb teachers in Upper St. Clair, Mr. Bashor stands out as one of my most beloved and cherished.

Unfortunately, I am in Boston on a business trip and will not be returning until next week. I'm most sorry that I cannot meet his precious family and share in your acknowledgement of this special man's life.

With Sincere Condolences,
Sally Colussy

Your dad was truly a remarkable, compassionate, loving and wonderful man who was extremely proud of each and every one of you. I consider myself fortunate in having know him for most of my life. He could always be counted on to have a kind word, a joke to make you laugh, a twinkle in his eyes, and a devilish grin on his face. I will never forget him. He was a rare gem who enjoyed life to the fullest & will be missed by all who knew him.

Dear Bashors,

Your father was one of the nicest people I know. He was so happy-go-lucky, always a smile and a joke. I will never forget him. I hadn't seen him in years to talk to but I passed him nearly every day when the sun was shining at lunchtime on the way up to my mom's. God has bless you all for giving you a father like that as a role model for parenting. I know many people from Curry were excited to see him come home when he arrived in Heaven!
