David Beird Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Feb. 2 to Feb. 5, 2023.
David H. Beird, 70, of Phoenix, AZ passed away peacefully on January 28, 2023. David, known to his friends and family as Dave, was born on July 6, 1952 in Oklahoma City to James and Joyce Beird. He was the eldest of three brothers, and grew up in Park Forest, IL. After spending his early years in and around Chicago, Dave lived in Oregon and Texas before settling in Phoenix, Arizona. Dave worked as an aerospace engineer for Honeywell beginning in 1986 and stayed with the company for 30 years until his retirement in 2016. He worked in tool design, then quality assurance, and was proud of his career accomplishments, including a patent award in his name. While working at Honeywell, Dave earned his masters degree from Embry-Riddle in 2000. Dave had three sons with his first wife Hollis, and spent as much time as possible with his family. He and his family enjoyed spending countless days together on road trips. In his free time, Dave was an avid illustrator, music collector, and enjoyed hiking. He also loved taking his family to art galleries, live music performances, and the movies. Dave remarried to Lovie in 2008, and the two traveled the country, seeing a breadth of beautiful locations together. Dave will be remembered most as a kind and gentle husband and father. He never failed to deliver a smile with his quick wit and humor, brightening the days for those around him. Dave is survived by: his wife, Lovie; his sons, Nathan (Morgan), Tyler (Karla), and James; his brothers, Kermit (Kiera) and Michael (Daria); his nephew Cody (Candice); his nieces Allyssa and Meridith, and his stepsons Sean (Nicolle) and Chris (Jennifer). David loved nothing more than spending time with his family, and took pride knowing that those around him felt the love he gave. A memorial service will be held in Scottsdale, AZ at Green Acres Cemetery on February 18th at 9:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for a donation to Rosie's House, a music academy for children. rosieshouse.org
