Dear Lovie and Don, I received the notice in today's mail. I was just stunned and so very sorry that you lost David. I found him to be a very interesting person when he and I visited at one of the reunions. From that conversation I knew he was taking care of you all with love. My heart goes out to the both of you. Healing will come in its own time and way. I found that when I began to thank God for Gloria Jean, the hurt began to lessen. Love you.

What a shock. David and the rest of the Shenandoah Bengals were at the house everyday growing up. Like instant replay there's the image of David breaking that "unbreakable" aluminum bat while hitting one of the many home runs he slugged as Baton Rouge's best power hitter as a 12 year old and then grinning as he rounded the bases. Our thoughts and prayers go to Lovie and Don and the entire Boutwell family. RIP David.

Wow.This is tough to hear - breaks my heart. Dave was one of my favorite people in the world - his sense of humor was second to none. Dave always had a way of making everyone feel special with his kind words and beautiful smile. Some of my most fond memories include Dave. I am so thankful that he was a part of my life 'back in the day' and will never forget him. RIP sweet friend.

David was a part of my childhood and such a great friend. This is a sad day for the Woodlawn/Shenandoah community and for later communities that were blessed by his presence. My thoughts are with the whole Boutwell family. Sending courage and strength.

Dave was a kind soul and great guy to be around. He always had a smile for everyone and a quick joke to keep you laughing. Some of my fondest memories of Dave include football practices our senior year, where his sense of humor kept the players and coaches going through a long season. Just a great guy that will be truly missed by all who knew him. May God's peace and love be with you old friend.

No doubt David became a fine man, but he will always be 17 to me. He was kind, funny, generous, exceptionally handsome (dreamy), a talented athlete, and a true friend. He was loved by many and his passing hurts my heart. I will always cherish the memories of my first love. I believe his gentle soul is with the angels. You have my deepest sympathy.

Very sad to hear this news. I always liked Dave, and thought he was a genuinely good and decent person and a true friend....While I lost touch with him, it is sad to think he will no longer be on this earth with us. God bless him and his family. A true loss to us all.

David was my best friend in elementary school and we continued our friendship through Woodlawn. Every time I return to our home in Baton Rouge I remember the good times with the Boutwells, marchiafavas, Culmones, Parinos, Daughtrys, Pecks, and Thames. What a neighborhood Cedarcrest was.
My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
He was a great friend and always had a welcoming smile.

To David's family and friends, I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. I grew up with David but we lost touch after High School. He was always so good and nice to me, he put up with me, tomboy and all. I will keep you all in my prayers. I wish I could attend the service to show my respects, but the logistics preclude me from doing so. God Bless you all. May David rest in eternal peace! Ali (Allison Nevils) Dunavant
