David Bucher Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Aug. 21 to Aug. 26, 2023.
With great sadness, we announce that David (Dave) Alan Bucher died peacefully at home in late March, 2023, aged 69. Born in Michigan, David grew up in Saint Paul, MN. Retired from more than 30 years working on behalf of children in the MN Departments of Education and later, Human Services, he happily pursued his passions of writing novels, composing music, and making art. Despite challenging lifelong physical difficulties, he strived always to live life honorably and fully. David was a skilled and avid fisherman, played a mean game of chess, had the most wonderful capacity for fun and playfulness, and was committed to improving human and animal welfare. He never stopped learning about science -- especially physics -- history, and nature. He was predeceased by his beloved brother Bob, and parents Marjorie and Robert. David's gentle kindness, humor, wit, generosity and compassion will be sorely missed by his wife, Mary Firth, his daughter Melissa Stone and son-in-law Steve, brothers Jim and Steve, grandchildren Amie, Steven, and Jillian, in-laws Chris Bucher, Leslie Firth and Mike DiCola, Lindsay Firth and Bob Baker, nephews, nieces, and good friends. Deep thanks to his HealthPartners hospice team, Sara and Karen. Those wishing to honor David's life may support one of the causes he was passionate about: relieving food vulnerability worldwide, protecting wild animal habitats, eliminating homelessness. We will never forget the joy of knowing you, David. You brought the brightest happiest light into this world.

Such a kind, gentle, and funny guy! His legacy of "Dave" lives on in the people, known or unknown, whose lives he touched. Shining Star, farewell.

David sounds like a wonderful man and fitting partner to my friend Mary Firth. Happy to support his cause of ending (reducing?) homelessness in recognition of how empathetic he was. I wish I had met him.

I'll never forget going fishing with Dave. Talking about life, family, and all that matters.
I will always remember how kind and thoughtful he was towards me. And ofcourse will always appreciate how much he's done for my family. Gone but not really. He lives in my heart 4ever.
