Mr. Couch - what a man of immeasurable dedication and perseverance!! As difficult as it was, he only cared about us learning the material - and we did. His family is in our prayers. We will never forget him!!!

Thank you Mr. Couch for not only being a great educator, but for being a wonderful, dedicated and inspiring teacher and mentor. You were one of the best teacher's I ever had and I would have never made it through high school math without your intelligence, guidance, generosity, tolerance and most of all your patience! You had such a great sense of humor and Lord knows you needed it, especially when I would hear you say, "Miss Parisi, that's it. Up front now!" So, off my desk and I went to the front of the classroom, along with Mr. Durkin, right up against the blackboard. Not some of my finer moments and nothing to be proud of, but you never gave up on me, on any of us. You were the best Mr. Couch. Your tolerance was unwavering! You always had a cup of coffee on your desk and now I know why! Thank you for always inspiring and believing in me, even in spite of myself. God bless you for your perseverance! You were loved and admired by us all. It truly was a privilege to be one of your students. Job well done Mr. "C"! The class of '76 rocked and so did you! As they pass through our lives, we call them teachers.....but in our hearts we call them heroes. My heartfelt sympathy and condolences to his family. Your loss is truly Heaven's gain. To live in the hearts of those we leave behind is not to die. Rest in peace Mr. Couch. You will be missed and NEVER forgotten!

Mr. Couch was the only math teacher that ever made my mathmatically challenged brain kind of get it. He spent time with me everyday after school to get me from a D in Alegebra to an A!! He truly cared about his students and devoted his time, compassion and intelligence to countless IHS students over many years. What a gift he was to us all. Thanks Mr. C! Rest in peace knowing how much you gave and how many many lives you touched.

God Bless Mr. Couch. I teach middle school Math, and just like him, I zoom up the aisle to check papers, and if they're not ready...oh, well. I've always thought about his style when tweaking my own. He made me LOVE Physics.

I never had the opportunity to meet David Couch. I truly wish I could have. As I was working with his family I got a chance to learn a little about him. Reading the entries in his guestbook shows me what an incredible teacher he was. It sounds like David definitely emulated my favorite quote. "You may be one person in the world, but to one person you may be the world. Auf Weidersehen Herr Couch.

Mr. Couch had certainly made an impact on both my children's lives. He will always be remembered as one of the teachers that they will never forget and will accredit their futures to. Thank you so much, Mr. Couch, for being the teacher that you were. You will always be remembered. Thank you so much for you devotion and dedication to our children. (mother of Renee '04 & Spencer'08)

I was in a state of shock to hear that Mr. Couch had passed. As an educator he always went out of his way to help others.
I will always appreciate the extra time Mr. Couch spent with me after school.
If you not sure of a particular problem Mr. Couch could find 3 ways in attaining the correct answer. He had incredible sense of humor even making Physics and Calculus fun.
I would like to extent my condolences to all of his family members. He will be deeply missed by this student.
You will not be forgotten
Thank you Mr. Couch

He was the best teacher I've ever had. I actually got the first A of my life in his Algebra I class....and it was entirely a credit to him, not me.
Bon Voyage, Mr. Couch, and thank you.

I was saddened to hear of Mr. David Couch's passing. What a sad day for his family and the IHS community to lose such a dedicated educator. I was blessed to have been a student of Mr. Couch's and grew from his teachings. Rest in peace, Mr Couch but know that you will always be remembered, for you have been such a driving force behind your students of so many years.

I always enjoyed the classes I had with Mr. Couch. The more he challenged me, the harder I worked and the stronger I became.

After 30 years I can honestly say I don't remember all of my high school teachers, but I do vividly remember Mr. Couch as an intelligent, caring teacher with a great sense of humor. He was a big part of the IHS class of 1976 and I can attest that he will be remembered and missed by many students and friends. My sympathy to his family and my thanks to Mr. Couch for his patience and dedication as an educator.

Very sad to hear the news of Mr.Couch passing away. He was a great teacher who I often told people about. The stories always begin about the "toughest teacher" you ever had...and end with... he was the "best teacher" I ever had! I am a better person for the hard lessons he taught. I am proud to have been one of his students.

I will never forget Mr. Couch. I know this has been said before, but he was without a doubt the best teacher I have ever had. He just had a special way about him. You always wanted to do your best to make him proud. Mr. Couch touched every one of his student's lives. Mr. Couch will be missed and Immaculate will never be the same without him....

You will be greatly missed Mr. Couch. It is a shame for all of those students at Immaculate that must now have someone else teach them Physics and Calculus. You were the greatest teacher who taught me about discipline and hard work. Thank you.

Goodbye Mr. Couch. I was saddened to hear about his passing. It is such a great loss for all of us that knew him and all that will never have the privelege of knowing him or experiencing his teaching method. He taught us much more than physics...he taught us discipline and thoroughness. If you were lax in your work and tried to take a shortcut you were rightfully punished with the dreaded 0/F. Get that just once and you would never make that mistake again. I know I didn't! I can still hear him saying "Units, Mr. Mains!". Goodbye Mr. Couch, you will be missed!

I was saddened to read of Mr. Couch's sudden passing. He was by far the best teacher that I ever had at IHS. I had the privilege of being in his Physics class during my senior year in 1977/1978. He had complete control of his classes and, more importantly, the respect of his students. Every time I drive by IHS I remember sitting in his third-floor classroom/lab. I still have my Physics textbook and notebook. What a great man, greatest teacher. God Bless You, Dave Couch.

My sympathy to David's family.
I use to wait on David for breakfast over the years at Marcus Dairy.
I admire how students would like to come and greet and eat with him, even after they had graduated school and went off to college. I'm sure he touched many lives.
May he rest in peace. May God give you care and comfort at this time. Sincerley, Sandi Plank

Mr. Couch is truly the greatest teacher I've ever had. I remember every Wednesday Senior year, I would have Couch the first three periods of the day (because of lab). He was always exciting and full of life. I'm going to miss eating breakfast with him before school in the morning, even after my friends and I had graduated. Rest in peace, Mr. Couch; you are my hero.

What a sad time for the IHS family - one of the best has been lost. While struggling through physics my senior year, Mr. Couch told me that it wasn't a surprise that I was having difficulty because women really had no place in the sciences. Well, that really ticked me off and I proceeded to not only pass Physics, but did it with flying colors. When I went to him to "put it in his face", he asked me if his comment made me work harder. When I said yes, he just smiled and replied, "Then I did my job." Thank you, Mr. Couch, for always doing your job. You will never be forgotten!!

I was sorry to see in today's paper that Mr. Couch had passed away. He truly was an excellent teacher who required our best efforts. Even twenty years later, I remember with a smile his animated demonstration of centrifugal force. My condolences to his family.

I am saddened to hear of Mr. Couch's death. He was a great teacher, and his devotion to Immaculate High School was amazing. His address to my graduating class of 1986 left all of us with a feeling of his love for us, although to many of us it was not apparent until we heard this speech. Rest In Peace, Mr. Couch.
