David Flamberg Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 10, 2025.
David Wayne Flamberg, 81, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2025, in Alta Loma, California, surrounded by family and friends. Born on June 4, 1944, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, Dave lived a full and vibrant life marked by dedication to family and friends, a passion for the arts, sports, and gardening, and a distinguished career in pharmaceutical quality assurance.

Dave graduated from Sharpsville High School (PA) before earning his Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry from Bucknell University. He later pursued an MBA at Baldwin Wallace University, furthering his commitment to excellence in his professional life. Over the years, he held key leadership roles in the pharmaceutical industry. He served as Quality Assurance Manager at Ben Venue Laboratories (OH) and later as Vice President of Quality Control and Quality Assurance at Vestar (Nexstar/Gilead) in San Dimas, CA. His career also included impactful tenures at Vical, Balance Pharmaceuticals and Molecular Express.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dave was deeply passionate about community theater. A gifted performer with a commanding stage presence, he played leading roles in numerous productions during college and with local groups such as the Brandywine Players. His love for the performing arts extended to movies and music, which brought him great joy throughout his life.

Dave was also an avid sports enthusiast. A loyal fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates, he also cheered on the Cleveland Cavaliers, Bucknell Bison, UCLA Bruins, and Cincinnati Bearcats with unwavering enthusiasm. He found great enjoyment in participating in fantasy leagues-football, baseball, and car racing alike-and never missed a chance to attend a UCLA tailgate at the Rose Bowl, see NASCAR or IndyCar races, or support his granddaughter Olivia at her soccer games.

Fishing was another cherished pastime for Dave. Whether casting lines with friends in Alaska's pristine waters or enjoying peaceful moments on Lake Erie, these experiences brought him lasting happiness. His love of travel took him across North America and beyond-he especially enjoyed visiting New England, Maine's rugged coastlines, Seattle's vibrant culture, Hawaii's serene beauty, San Francisco's charm, and the historic landscapes of the United Kingdom.

One of Dave's many passions was gardening. Whether it was growing vegetables in his garden, harvesting lemons, avocados, and peaches from his fruit trees, or entering his grand champion dahlias in the county fairs in Ohio, he loved the outdoors and tending to his beautiful yard.

Dave's greatest joy came from spending time with his family and friends. He is lovingly remembered by his son Michael Flamberg and daughter-in-law Amanda Flamberg (Hawley); his daughter Stephanie Flamberg and son-in-law Chad Harrison; and his beloved granddaughter Olivia Flamberg. He also leaves behind his sister Candace Aiken; uncle Bert Flamberg; many cousins, nieces and nephews whom he adored; and his cherished dogs Raider and Sally.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ira Flamberg and Olive Flamberg.

Dave will be remembered for his warmth, humor, creativity, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.

A friends and family gathering to celebrate Dave's life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dave's memory can be made to the ASPCA, local animal rescues, or the American Cancer Society.

Yesterday

It was always a good time when I have had the opportunity to hang out and visit with Dave. He was authentic, nothing phony. With a real concern and appreciation for others that we could see and feel I believe Dave could get along with anybody. He is truly missed.
