He was also a member of the Independent Political Club for many years.

David is survived and will be dearly missed by his life-partner, Lorretta Thompson, of 33 years, her son, Michael Thompson, his wife, Barbara and their children, Justin and Ashley, all of New Britain, whom he had considered as family, his two sons: Michael Gobar and his wife, Diana, of California and Thomas Gobar and his wife Tanya of New Britain, a brother, Denny Gobar and his wife, Anna of Farmington, his four grandchildren: Kayla, Thomas, Abigail and Christopher and several nieces and nephews.

A time of visitation will be held Monday, April 17, 2017, 4-7pm at New Britain Memorial Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain. Just saw the notice of Dave's passing and would like to send my deepest condolences to his loved ones and all those left behind. I served with Dave in the Navy aboard the USS Witek.EDD 848 in the early to mid 60s. We were pretty good friends during that time and I have many fond and some fun memories from those days. Dave was an all-around good guy. Sincerest sympathies to his family.
