David J. Gromelski

David J. Gromelski of Clarks Green died Thursday. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, the former Mary Kyzer.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of Rose Marie Notari Gromelski of Old Forge and the late Joseph Gromelski. He was a graduate of Scranton Preparatory School and the University of Scranton. He received a jurist doctorate from the Seton Hall University. David grew up in Old Forge with his loving brother, Gerald, and his late sister, Denise. David was a father, mentor and role model to his children. A rocker, he loved the guitar, singing and his wife, Mary. David and Mary were lucky enough to share more than 30 years of unrelenting love with each other, a love that cannot be broken by the pang of death.

David loved Café racers and was never hesitant to strap on his helmet and goggles and hit the back roads for hours. Many remember David screaming at the top of his lungs, slamming on the piano, or strumming the guitar in his band the Inturnz. A true Lorax, he spoke for the trees and devoted much of his career to environmental law at his firm Wright, Reihner, Mulcahey, Gromelski, & Tunis, later working at TAM enterprises.

The flame of David's life brought happiness and laughter to everyone who was lucky enough to meet him. His smile brightened the room, when he was in the smiling mood. More important to David than anything was his family. He worked tirelessly to provide his wife, son, and two daughters with an immaculate life filled with laughter and joy. Memories of David will never be forgotten whether he was playing in the band, taking care of his children and wife with unconditional love, or taking vacations to the Jersey shore. David possessed the moral fiber of 10,000 men and will be sorely missed by all who knew him. He passed tragically and too soon, and though a bright mind was lost that day, he now is the guardian angel of all who loved him. Also surviving are a son, Charles D. Gromelski, of Clarks Green; two daughters, Emma M. and Annarose Gromelski, both of Clarks Green; a brother, Gerald and wife, Sandra Gromelski, of Old Forge; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Denise Gromelski Wright.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
