David Wayne Grush, 58, of Fort Wayne, IN, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2022. David was born on April 9, 1964 to the late John and Helen Grush in Fort Wayne. After graduating from Northrup High School in 1983, he attended the Vocational Jefferson State College in Kentucky where he received his degree in Bricklaying. David was a talented Bricklayer and Mason. He had a great eye for quality and detail. He participated in the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America (VICA) Bricklaying contest in Kentucky where he took first place in the state. Shortly after, in 1985, he traveled to Phoenix, AZ to compete in the National U.S. Skill Olympics (sponsored by VICA) where he came in second place nationwide. David was very involved in the Deaf Community of Fort Wayne and had many friendships that he maintained well after high school. He loved to ride motorcycles and was involved in the Silent Wheels of the Indiana Chapter. For many years, David was an avid bowler and participated in a weekly bowling league. He once bowled a perfect score of 300, for which he was awarded a plaque. David was an outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish. He enjoyed a variety of activities including camping, boating, bowling, playing poker, and hunting for morel mushrooms. David was an adventurous person who loved to have fun. He could always be found near his family and friends just enjoying life. David is survived by his former spouse, Vanessa Martin (Al) of Fort Wayne, IN; children, Marissa Pinkerton (Evan) of Surprise, AZ and Daniel Grush of Fort Wayne, IN; brothers, Mark Grush of Leo, IN and Peter Grush of Grabill, IN; sister-in-law, Kristal Grush; nieces and nephews; and his grandchildren. David was preceded in death by his son, Jason Grush, and brothers, Paul Grush, Michael Grush, and Patrick Grush. The Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at Leo United Methodist Church, 13527 Leo Rd. Leo, IN 46765.
