David Hornick Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 21, 2025.
David John Hornick, born on November 1, 1939, to Francis and George Hornick Sr., in East Liverpool, Ohio, passed away in The Villages, Florida.

David attended Bowling Green State University on a baseball scholarship and earned a bachelor's degree in marketing. He built a successful career as the owner and operator of Hornick Business Forms, a company he ran for 40 years in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania.

He married his high school sweetheart, Marlene Gibbs Hornick, and they shared 62 wonderful years together. In 1969, they adopted their daughter, Laura Hornick, who was the joy of his life. In 2011, David and Marlene relocated to The Villages, Florida, where he enjoyed golfing and spending peaceful moments on his lanai with his beloved dog, Lola.

David will be remembered for his kindness, compassion, intelligence, and humility. He was a devoted husband and a loving father who touched the lives of those around him. In his final year, he was cared for at home by his wife and daughter.

David was a devout Catholic and was a member at Saint Louise de Marilac Church in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania upon moving to the villages. He was a member of Saint Timothy's. He was an altar boy, his whole youth, and continued to be a practicing Catholic, his whole life Dave and Marlene would attend Catholic mass every Sunday at 9 o'clock, and then they would go and have brunch. Marlene will miss this about him. The most Father Gerry of the Villages gave him his last rights and he will be united with God.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, George Hornick; and his sister, Norma Jean Kyser. He is survived by his wife, Marlene; his daughter, Laura; his sister-in-law, Nancy Hornick; his sister-in-law Paula Pinney and her husband Blaine Pinney; as well as nieces Tammy Hornick McGeehan, Marci Hornick Horton, Elizabeth Pinney Olah, and Kay Pinney Stofanik.

David s legacy of love and wisdom will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

A catholic mass will be said at a later date at Saint Timothy's in Lady Lake Florida, and we would like in lieu of flowers for you to make a donation to Cornerstone hospice house in the villages Florida

Dave was a respected baseball opponent in our young days in Pony League, Prep League, and High School. He and Bernie Allen were talented players who combined their abilities with being the nicest young men in our leagues. Dave will be remembered by all of us who played at that time. Rest in peace, old friend. We will have a Mass said for you in East Liverpool.
